      Creating "overflow boxes" if many units will mass up in small areas.. like islands, to keep a good overview...! Coming slowly to a finish of the placement chapter... which took me far more time than expected

      almost finished making region labels with their terrain and extra features ( also lot of fact checking about regions geological features and oil production in ww2. ) and organizing placement so that the whole will look organized and clear.... takes some time 😉 Sso the placement boxes are just for outlining and will not appear ingame. Also experimented with Small city tiles, that will have a extra space for unit placement on the maps top edge, just like in the old school axis and allies map....

      besides trying to make a experiment with clustering all players into 5 main groups: so that they can also attack together.
      ( also turn order )

      1. Western Axis: Germany - Italy - Vichy France* & minors Rumania - Hungary/Slovakia & Finland
      2. Eastern Axis: Japan and minor Mandsjoekwo
        versus
      3. Central Allies: USSR - China & minor Mongolia
      4. Western Allies : Uk - Western USA - minors: South Africa - Brasil - Free French
      5. Eastern Allies: USA East - Uk pacific - ANZAC- minors: dutch east india & nepal

      All get their own pu's and production as has been done before In total war and with UK in global war.
      The minors get limited production options and limited purchase possibilities like twice a year,
      appearing in a majors purchase menu. anyway I give it a try.....!

      @JOSEPH-PRINCE Hej there, still takes some time and for the next steps I will be inviting people to coop for getting there; about extra units: I will not create to many extra units as the map will be overloaded in placement; but my idea now is that besides basic units every bigger player will get a couple of units to flavour the game in historic sense..: like soviet katyusha and armoured train, german Siege train, super Sub and Me- 262 , Type XXI sub.... etc... though limited by auto placement and/or pricing ; ) as on this maps scale ofcourse their influence should be limited....

      Another weekly progress: working on comparing sources for a historical & ballanced setup : I changed the starting point to APRIL** 1941; ( I made a 2 months turns: jan-feb/ march-april/ and so on ) as there are still some important little battles taking place with impact on the whole on the west front: like Greece still unoccupied so if keeping of a axis invasion still a factor.... and even more: Iraq and Iran are moving towards the axis... so by this UK first has to secure Iraq and later iran ( together with russia) to secure Persian corridor supplies to USSR. Also the east african campaign is still raging
      so italian have units in Abyssinia , Somalia and tiny fleet in red sea.

      And by this their oil... as the oil now at game start with flow to the Axis as they "own" the refinery in Iran-Iraq to symbolize economical ties with the Axis. Anyway..... still a lot to do..... besides many territories have a garrison now (inf. with G sign) this is a small non moving unit representing local garrisons and defences. Low roll but still feels better than a empty zones in your rear.. ; ) And Africa will cost a little more effort to conquer.... especially when entering the Jungle center... Also Non-replaceble obsolete units around, (like Light fighters, light armour and Flotilla as smaller naval units of minors or remote Colonial areas ) as allways... any tips remarks welcome..

      WINTER EFFECT : SO: IT WORKS: but to avoid the -reset- clearing the other territory effect the Clear winter trigger need to recall the other Effects: like:
      <option name="territoryProperty" value="territoryEffect" count="-reset-Mountain:Forest:Marshes:etc etc"/>

      then it works fine! really great thank you so much for helping out !!!!! There is a seasonal winter as winter should be !!!!! Allthough the Axis might not appreciate it 😉 anyway: a real key factor in ww2 warfare... forgive me the amount of cumunication on the forum.. but it lead to something

      As tooltips on units do show movement left and oil use they do not (yet) show terrain effect: it is nice to know what consequences a for example a heavy armour suffers when being ordered into a swamp, BEFORE the battle occurs.. 😉

      I made a very short info panel behind the terrain effect Symbol , in the low bar....

      @Cernel Still work in progressive... thnxs for advice... I realize this "straight order"alignment of units takes away the Boardgame-roots feeling.. but it gives me personally so much better overview in gameplay.... Right now doing a painstaking job on Units placement in sea zones ... created a soviet naval invasion to check .. 🙂 place Fleet.png

    • UPDATING OLDER MAPS FOR 2.1

      Hej TripleA Community... I spend a lot of time some years ago on a 1940 and a 1941 Barbarossa Historical version of Verquins World War II Global (but then with Larsons/Hepster great Total wars' landscape types, winter , historical conys, objectives & with other units like HQ's and minor states gameplay PLUS a lot of work aligning all units in the PLACE file to keep the map in order 😉 ) . After spending some years on Civilization.5 RED scenario dev. I returned on finishing this Scenario. but offcourse you guys moved on from 1_8_0_9 to 2.1. Incompatible I noticed ... Can anyone tell me how to update old maps from those days to 2.1?
      I searched around this forum (new here) and couldn't hints to adapts certain Tags.
      Clues very welcome.

      ( as I have more graphical roots than programming 😉 )

      @ebbe just another question: I like to add more sound effects.... mostly attached to notifications in triggers...does anybody know if it would be possible ? to "hardcode" links to mp3 files from within a trigger in the game.xml? Or knows examples of that in other games? Yes i searched the forum and right now i manage to manage a bit by replacing existing sounds in the games' soundmap.... Thnxs

      about partisans: okej I have filtered out the following main partisan territories:

      West: Yugoslavia, Greece, Albania, East France, North Italy, Bulgaria 5 Russian territories,(main: Bryansk/Novgorod/Orel/Belarus regions) East Poland & Ukraine (both anti Rus as anti Axis) Baltic states (anti soviet)
      East: (anti japanese) Phillipines, Timor, Burma, New Guinea)
      and Iwo Jima (anti allies )

      OKEJ, I AM LOOKING FOR 3 DEVOTED PRE-BETA-TEST-PLAY-VOLUNTEERS, 😉
      that have some time these X-MESS DAYS to test play OIL & SNOW GAME *
      and can mail me a decent list of feedback, bug report, suggestions and comments*

      Hej another question: is it possible to "remove" certain players like Neutral ALLIES at games player selection start menu? I created a PLAYER "X:" to solve some territory issues... but prefer it not to appear in game starts' selection box....
      okej working hard coming day... let's see how far we get 😉 trying to get partisans somehow involved in a decent , not too irritating but still realistic way... partisansPolishAntiRuSign.png partisansRussianSign.png

      we gave the Canadians a really Snow Winter.... isn't that something too?

      anyway: Calender fixed: was indeed quite easy...
      moving on to some basic tutorials for testing people..... and partisans as this was still not the way I hoped it could/would.should work
