Americans regular : 0.00 Russians regular : -12.83 Germans regular : -6.00 British regular : -0.67 Russians AA : 0.50I understand the dice look like hell for the Russians - and they aren't good - but the battle went +3.73 pieces in favor of the German player (assuming a German win). Take surviving units from the battle (19) and minus "units left if attacker won" (15.27) from the battle calculator to arrive at this result (+3.73 assuming a German win).
Good game - it seems EXTREMELY tough on allies once the right German strategy is apparent. Thanks for demonstrating that by the way. Unbelievably, the "attack everywhere" hadn't occurred to any of us yet. I was not attacking at all and trying strafes and then trying to attack just one territory - but now it seems obvious. I also really like your fighters in Norway - splitting defense of Moscow with attack on Germany. I've already stolen that idea as well.
Well done Victor - very nice gamesmanship and problem solving.

It's funny because it was probably intended by the developers that Germany attacks heavily in the East Front on turn 1. It is, after all, Operation Barbarossa.

Thank you, and good game! This game is indeed extremely tough as the Allies. The right balance between transports and fighters is still a question mark for me. And also on the EF the Russians need to kill as many German units as possible while keeping their own losses to a minimum, something that is quite tricky and oftentimes involves risky attacks. In any case, I was surprised to see that even such a massive early Allied advantage wasn't enough to stop the Germans. I feel like in this particular situation, the Allies CAN win, although I am not sure how. I challenge you to take the Allies with this G1 as a starting point, perhaps you can beat it.
That German strategy is just a product of trying some stuff out and then finetuning. After the Med transport bid didn't work out, I tried an all-out attack on the EF, which turned out to be pretty effective. Over the course of several games, I made small improvements to the strategy based on those games (for example now I don't make attacks in Leningrad, Vyborg, one infantry takes Gibraltar, and now I don't attack the US fleet anymore, thanks to your comment, ha!). The games I have played on these forums have been very helpful.
Again, thanks for playing. Over the years I have learned a lot from playing against you. I really appreciate these games

Small question, you said there were 19 surviving German units, but I see 19 German tanks and 2 fighters. Shouldn't the fighters be included?
-
@victoryfirst you are 100% right about the fighters. That was a very bad battle for the poor Allies in the end...but still favored the Germans shockingly.
I think your idea is a good one. Let me try something a little different than what you did with the Allies and see if there is a different final turn result (I want to see if I can get the percentages more in favor for the Allies than you did in our game). It will be a good learning experience. I will start with this configuration on R1. Should have the first turn out tonight.

Are you OK if we do this in a separate thread? Just for me to more easily keep track of everything.
