Warlords that old series from the 90s, worth a map?

I was reminiscing and recalled the fun I had with the old warlords series. The one with the 8 factions, heroes, items, and such (that sounds like it'd fit a lot of games, heh). Warlords 2 was ofc better and great fun as well. It occurred to me that it would adapt rather decently to triplea; there're a lot of similarities in how the games work. Things like heavy infantry for every action, but with the shields showing the emblem of the nation (or otherwise with adjusted color schemes).
I looked up the games a bit; I even considered trying to directly transcribe the old warlords 1 map, but there weren't any direct pics of it (and there might be legal issues).
I've been looking through the various map features/attachments available, and there's enough room to make a map with gameplay that's somewhat reminiscent of the warlords series and not just another typical triplea map.
Just cuz its nostalgic for me doesn't mean it'd be so for a lot of other people; so I wanted to gauge interest in such a project.

@zlefin Very arousing even without remembering ever to have played the original games. However, I believe redesigning games in a TripleA style has the huge challenge of actually having to offer something better over them, elsewise one would rather play the original games: you need to give a good answer to the question "why would I want to play this X game on TripleA instead of playing the original X game?".
In cases like "270BC", clearly inspired to "Rome: Total War", the answer may be that the games are so different that is practically pointless to compare the two.
So far, with special regard to the several such maps made by @Frostion (the last one in the series being "Warcraft War Heroes", which I seem to understand is a very close concept to what at this topic), all TripleA maps inspired to non-TripleA style games have remained unpopular. We should maybe first ask ourselves why none of such maps has become any popular thus far.

Based on only modest interest and Cernel's wise words of caution, I think I'll just make a small map to showcase some gameplay options with some of the flavor of the ol' warlords.
It'll be awhile before it's made; gotta peruse what art assets we have available, ponder some gameplay choices, figure out what to use for the map, and all the other work.
