@ubernaut I disagree with this view. In the unit description section of the rules trains are described on the same line as trucks, indicating that trains behave like trucks do and that they are sea transportable. Just like trucks don't need docks to board, trains don't either.
Also if you take a look at the example games posted in the TWW strategy guide Redrum consistently uses a transport to move that train on Ger2. (https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/661/total-world-war-strategy-guide?page=1)

@ubernaut My understanding is any transportable unit can board as long as it has the movement (i.e. no player enforced rules for boarding). So materials and aa are the special cases that require docks (or truck or train w/ Advanced logistics) since they naturally have 0 movement. So trains, like other units naturally with movement, don't require docks.
Also from a map design standpoint, I think the train was put in Africa to let the Germans have another train. But to restrict their access to it in the first few turns. It wouldn't make sense to give them a train there if they can't even use it (without invading Spain).

@lich yeah in my first few games i pulled the train out also but in our last game, i didn't because of this like i say i'm pretty i read or was told by someone you needed a dock to move them onto the transport (i believe you only need a rail to unload) hopefully someone else will chime in.

@ubernaut Yeah the rail to unload is also engine enforced. That Redrum's own example games show him moving the train has me convinced that not needing docks is the intended behavior.

@lich yeah ok like i said a number of the movement rules changed those games were played on an earlier version of the game i believe. so i'm just saying we should wait for someone to chime in here if possible.

And the extra time has given me a chance to think a bit more carefully about Germany's ncm and I decided to change a few things around. Main changes are keeping N.France army put instead of moving to Low Countries and swapping recruitment of 2nd tact for a fighter + truck.

@ubernaut ok cool. I've got a general combat plan and should have my final plan worked out either tonight or tomorrow. I think the only two decisions would be an obvious no scramble for China and ool for Hong Kong. I'll attack HK with planes and no tanks so would assume you want to take at, inf, aa, then trench (or maybe aa last).
