Upgraded units (Tech) don't show on board - stay the same looks wise
-
I'm not a member I don't think of Github so cant do a bug report and not even sure if this is a bug but I exclusively play BW1942v3 and have noticed in my latest games when you get tech - specifically in game I played today countries got Super Subs and AA Radar and though I think such worked they did not display on board as in the units did not change in anyway to show these units were now upgraded so players forgot that Italy had better AA guns and Germany had Super subs - that really annoyed me as I forgot (I was Germany) and was not till I was attacked it showed the upgraded subs icon on the battle board but no good in defence. I am sure a long time ago when you got a power whatever it was units at the end of your turn on the board would slightly change to show all they are upgraded. Would be good if that was still the case.

@bluelionman yea I remember this happening on other games too with 2.5. I don't remember what the issue was, if it just got overlooked before release or if something else happened.
Anyway, they work on 2.6
Edit
@bluelionman yea I posted that here 10 months ago. Got no response.
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3434/tech-units-not-changing?_=1703786401679I guess i never made a git issue either as it doesn't show anything in my history for that time frame.

@beelee How do I update to 2.6 - I only ever really play my younger sibling and alas we have so many unfinished game-saves on my PC can no longer play online as they were from older versions - think only way we will ever get to finish those games is meet up physically at mine and play on my system.
I wish I know how to link older versions across the internet but I don't even know how to set up ports etc what i do is find an empty bot load the game up from a game-save and then get my bro to come in to same bot and continue but that only ever worked for saves from the current version online with a internet option which for me is 2.5 on my PC though I still have on my PC 1.8 and 1,9 for playing older game-saves.
I have so many games saves on my PC I've given up playing strangers online as no one ever comes back to finish game-saves I get it when someone knows there losing they would rather start a new game I found this over and over - I get it but in the end it gets pointless as people never have the time to finish a game in one session.
So how do I upgrade to 2.6 and will 2.5 game-saves still work?

@bluelionman yea so for 2.6, go to the main page https://triplea-game.org/
Download Triplea and it'll have "Download-Prerelease" bottom left.
That will take you to a github page. Click on the date
That will take you to the different OS. Select the one you're using, most people are on windows 64
Then follow the prompts. It will start out by asking if you want to replace your existing triplea or go to a new folder.
Select new folder and follow the same naming pattern as your current. I just put the number of the release.
This is for linux. I think windows has prompts all the way, but you should end up someplace like this
Next takes you here or similar
then add a / and the number and promt your way out
I assume you are on windows as 90% of the world is, Idk of any mac users off hand but theres a few around from time to time.
Anyway, if you have any trouble just ask for help with which OS you have.
2.6 saves will work on any 2.6. So you don't have to worry about having the same pre, unless there some major change that affects game play.
I'll reread your post and see if i missed anything.
Edit
Yea not much you can do for the old saves. Should be able to play out your 2.5 ones as long as everybody has 2.5.Probably just need to bite the bullet on the old ones. 1.9 lobby is no more. You could play by forum and send emails back.
2.6 lobby is up but it doesn't have any bots. That's about all I know. Someone else might jump in with more info
Edit 2
Actually 2.5 saves will work on 2.6 but 2.6 won't work on 2.5 -
@beelee Thanks for all that think I wont start any new 2.5 games but will not switch to 2.6 until I have finished all my 2.5 game saves.
I wonder if there's a way to manually set up games via game edit to replicate how my old game saves are - as in round, units and the rest on 2.6 so if I can play them online and delete my old 1.8 and 1.9 game saves - not sure if you understand what I am saying as it's hard put into text. But basically copying across games to the latest engine.

@bluelionman yea you could just edit everything so it's the same. Would take a while but doable.
Also, just to be clear, you can have both 2.5 and 2.6.
2.5 saves will work on 2.6 but not vice versa.
