@general_zod Why that is not your Avatar? I shall never know.
-
@hepps It is kinda cool.
-
Yeah, I like that. Nice idea.
The end that signifies what territory needs to be held can even be bigger.
You know what might look cool too, a chain link. But that's probably too much work.
-
@general_zod LMAO... I feel like that is a taunt. Like saying it is to much work will prompt me to do it.... which it totally will.
-
@hepps
Haha, I was just throwing more ideas out there. I am definitely happy with the style in your sample and the idea in general. I have no doubt you can create a chain link style too. You are after all, the resident graphics guru. But no pressure. Thanks again. -
Something like this?
-
Yes, that looks cool. You are the man! thank You.
The Malaca Straits canal restriction. Can change the color of the chain to signify, it is permanently closed to all naval and air.
Maybe not change color of the chain itself , but the outline.
Both versions are cool!
-
@general_zod Just a prototype... will work on it more when I have the time. I'll tighten up the graphics a little bit.
This was really just to make your morning.
-
Yes indeed. It put a smile on my face.
The chain gives me inspiration for a motif of a new mapskin.
I will remove the faces from the map skin too, I think.
-
There it is a little more defined and cleaned up.
I Like the idea of removing the political figures since they really aren't relevant to the FFA. Might also consider replacing the national cap markers with some hypothetical faction names. Would definitely give it more flare as a FFA.
-
Maybe some clever use of the names of all the people that helped develop this.
Zodians
ElkenitesWhimsical and pays tribute to the creators.

Actually, regarding Malaca straits, I really need to redraw the borders of sea zones 36 and 37. Or the ideal fix would be to add a couple extra sea zones to create the separation that the Malaca straits provide.
But once I start redrawing sea zones. I will lose the benefit of the familiarity factor which is provided by using an existing popular map. Something I need to consider before I tweak sea zones and or territories to be ideal.
-
@general_zod Well to be honest the map itself is absolutely horrible to begin with. But I do get what you are saying about people being accustom to it.
-
Changing nation names isn't so easy anymore, I have a lot of conditions and triggers referring to them. I shoulda did it before. If I do decide to do it, I kind of like concept that was used in "Mutant Chronicles".
"In the 28th century, four rival corporations are in a constant state of war for control of the Earth."
Something like so, off the top of my head.
Russians could be the "Slavic Energy Consortium"
Japan, could be "Orient Robotics"
Germany, could be "Franks & Sax Group"
New Britain, "Anglo Mining Company"Working off of this , could add, special technologies that fit their type of businesses.
-
@general_zod Wouldn't really be that hard with Notepad ++ , using the filter and search you could replace everything in minutes.
-
Assuming everything was neatly coded and uniform throughout, perhaps.
-
@general_zod Nope doesn't matter. All the things that need to be uniform... are uniform.... otherwise your map wouldn't work. Neatness is a moot point since you'd just be using the "replace all" function.
-
I give credit in current game notes, and I will add as it continues.
I don't know the people personally that created the map. I just copied their names over from original xml. So I'm not sure getting whimsical is appropriate there.
But I can do that way with help to current mod.
-
The code for diplomacy is certainly uniform, wouldn't even be practical for me to attempt if I couldn't use the replace function. Other areas I have to go back and check what I did.
Since I wasn't aware of many shortcuts in the beginning.
