NO SIRS - NO STUMBLING WAS INVOLVED. I set out to maximize this scenario and by golly jeepers geeky creepers I'm a gonna does it
hahahahahanyway I am on the plane trying to get all this to work with minimal results so I will just bang out a turn or two without being able to access any of the special stuff

@johnnycat That's a House Rule that you don't have to do anything for. Your comrade slave laborers in Siberia work out of sight and before you start every Russian turn starting with R3, a tank will just appear in the Urals and you can use it immediately. UNLESS the bad guys have Urals territory when your turn starts. In that case, the slave laborers don't work as they are hiding from the Fascists.

@trout Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan.
I love coming here - the culture, the food, the fashion and much more.
I also love your sense of humor - definitely a required quality to make these games even more fun...
I am suffering from EXTREME and BRUTAL Jet Lag but I swear I did Russia's 3rd turn and then you did a move and wrote about it on the Forum and it was Extremely FUNNY...
But as I look around I do not see anything - other than my completely Russia 3 and posting it here. I called it something like "a boring Russian turn 3."
Did I experience a vision into the future ? A first-ever Axis and Allies Dream? Are you still contemplating Japan's third turn?
Maybe you and your wife and still celebrating your 15th year anniversary??
Please advise. I am something like 16 hours into your future.

@johnnycat Glad you got there okay. Yes, enjoy the fried scorpions and all of that other wonderful cuisine that you can't get here in USA
You are correct. I missed that you had posted R3. Did J3 now. Decided to stay at peace with the USA. If I promise to not attack Hawaii and just stomp on Australia and other places can we agree to remain at peace? You are from Cali so I assume you are pro-peace yes??? I can even agree to send FDR a daily supply of sushi and green tea for him and his dear Eleanor. See how gracious our Emperor is

@beelee Naval Mines (NM) Question:
The augmented rules (https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/assets/uploads/files/1692452927558-1.g40-naval-mines.pdf) state that NMs can only be placed in ones capital.
I have to assume the following; please let me know if any are incorrect:
-
in the USA's case, place in capital means East or West Coast, right? If not what would be the rational ?
-
Naval mines can be moved by destroyers or transports - 3 mines per escort. They can unload and arm them after the NCM (non combat move)
-
Naval Mines are placed on a line between sea zones - and this has to be noted by the players.
Example : The US could, in theory, place a number of mines in SZ 26 the Hawaii zone. And their location must be specified so the line between 26 and 24 (Wake Island) and 26 and 30 (Johnston Island)
The Japanese could move around these but if they moved directly from Caroline Islands, for example, how are these dice rolls handled ?
Thanks

Hi Cat
Glad you made it to Asia safely
Business Class or used to be known as 1st Class
Yea. so the NMs, NavalMines, US of A has their Capital in "Eastern United States". So can't place them in Cali
Although the blokes can in India so ... well that's the rules
NMs can only be moved by "Escorts" not Destroyers. Some of the movement is "Player Enforced".
Yes you have the Sealine in the Seazone defending correct. Use the comment log to state which Mines defend where and/or state in Game Thread.
Actually best to state in Game thread as comment Log can get missed but when in doubt, check the log and if it's listed as it should be, then you'll have your answer.

Do your turn and save it where you have a question and I will look at it.
Idk any Chinese and JPN seems inappropriate, so a Good Day to you

-
@beelee Thanks - how are these mine attacks done in the game - what I mean is how are dice rolled?
So the only way to get Naval Mines From the East Coast to the Pacific is to ship them via transport or escort from the East Coast through Panama Canal or the long way???
So what is an "escort"? The rules say a ship that attacks with 1 and defends with 2 and follow destroyer rules.
So I don't get it - how do we acquire escorts?
-
Yea so NMs are produced in EUS only. I think you can Rail move them, I'll check.
Nope you can't

brb with the Escort/DD thingy
-
@beelee Sorry to nag you on this but these Naval Mines seem very powerful if used well...
So what are Naval Mines 2 and 3 ? I thought you addressed that earlier but now I cannot find that. My plan is to purchase 5 Naval Mines, place them on the east coast, then next turn to load 5 naval mines onto the transport there, and ship them (in 3 turns) to the Japan Sea Zone.
OK I am kidding but this would work yes? The game shows that a transport can hold 5 NMs. But the rules may have said that "Escorts" whatever those are, can only hold and ship 3...
So confusing...
-
-
@beelee It turns out that knowing Japanese is a very valuable asset here in 2025 Taiwan.
-
@beelee YES I know this - and read it many times. Still don't know:
- what is an escort and how to get them
- How many NMs can be moved by escort (the game allows transports to move 5)
- What is a NM2 and NM3
-
Yea so only "3" NMs on a "Escort" at a time. Player Enforced. Triple has to allow illegal moves to make all Units transportable.
Edit
NM 2 = 2 NMs and 3 =3. 3 is the most common I find because that is max Escort ability to transport. Have to use edit to place them.Edit 2
Ah you are in Formosa. I thought I had something wrong
A Pleasant evening to you and I will post the Escorts directly -
Patience Grasshopper
i will explain directly

Edit
Escorts can't be purchased until turn 4, Late 1941. You can buy NMs and place them in your Capital but won't be able to move them until Escorts come into play.
So rd 5, Early 1942, would be the soonest you could move NMs that you had previously purchased.
Edit 2
When in doubt, you have to Player Enforce the rules.

Yea you probablly need to read the captain's rules again as i doubt the above explains it to you fully.

-
@beelee Patience... sorry but that was Latency not impatience, hahaha.
OK thanks I get all this mine stuff now - except how to get "escorts" but I am patient and look forward to the explanation when you get to it...

Edit 2
I edited above post for Escorts
