How about we apply for a free profiler license
-
I've been using YourKit profiler for some TripleA performance issues lately. My trial license runs out on 15th Jan.
My experience is positive.We can get a free open source license, see https://www.yourkit.com/java/profiler/purchase/#os_license.
How about it?
-
@rainova Sounds like they want us to simply to link to them. Perhaps it is not a bad trade. Can you give any examples of what the profile does that is particularly useful? I'm pretty inclined that we pursue this.
-
@lafayette I used the profiler to 1) find out where in the ConcurrentBattleCalculator mulithreading helps and where not and
2) what the performance impact of removing the image cache is.
It can also be used to analyze memory issues.Do they want a quote? In the case I would write something pretty regarding AI and UI of our great game

@lafayette @RaiNova Any update here?
-
-
@lafayette I applied just now
-
@rainova Keep us in the loop please. What exactly did you have to do to apply? For what license exactly did you apply?
-
YourKit has agreed to grant us the licence:
Hello Raimund,
Thank you for your interest in our products.
We are ready to provide free of charge licenses for your open source project.
To obtain a license, you should place a small free-form text endorsement at the project web site.
The endorsement should contain:
-
The attached YourKit logo and a text that your open source project uses YourKit tools. Alternatively to embedding the logo, you can directly link to the logo hosted at YourKit web site:
https://www.yourkit.com/images/yklogo.png -
A hyperlink reference to YourKit web site.
For example:
"

https://www.yourkit.comI can change the file in github (and will post a PR for it). Who can change the start page on triplea-game.org?

PR #10259
-
@Panther @LaFayette Who can change the start page on triplea-game.org?
-
@rainova https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea-game.github.io/
The webpage is our official home page. I don't know if we really need the endorsement on both the project readme & webpage. FYI there is an endorsement link for install4j already there. Having something that is noticeable but not overwhelming to the rest of the page content would be ideal.
-
@lafayette I didn't find the IntelliJ endorsement link. Where is it, please?
-
@rainova Caution:
Intellij != Install4j
-
@lafayette How about an endorsement not on the start page of triplea.org but on the download page?
-
@rainova Hard to say. Arguably it will be clutter anywhere we put it on the existing webpages. Somewhere along with the license is maybe a good place. Maybe we could create a 'sponsors' page that would list it? I don't have good ideas/suggestions for this. To backtrack perhaps on previous comments, perhaps only having an endorsement message on the README is sufficient..
