PBF issues (was: 1st time Forum game)
-
I've been playing TripleA games solo for about a year and have some friends who asked to try a multi-player Forum game. My Java version is 11.0.9.1 and my Engine Version is 2.6.14364. I've registered for the Dice Server, registered with the TripleA forums and have created a "Play by Forum" post.
I've never played a Forum game of TripleA and I have a couple of questions.
-
How do you determine who plays what country?
-
Does the person creating the Forum game have to go first?
-
How can I invite multiple players to my game?
When I add multiple emails to the Dice Server Options CC: area it goes red and I cannot start a game.
Separate the emails with a space and don't leave a space afterwards - right?
Thank you for any input and advice you have.
Cheers -

I've been doing some testing to figure out my issues creating a Forum game.
With version 2.5.22285 the Dice server emails work correctly.
They also work with 2.4.22192.
The issue is that with those versions the Forum Username and Passwords don't work. The forum Username and Passwords work with version 2.6.14364.
But he Dice server emails do not work and stay red with multiple email addresses.
Any chance someone can fix this issue with version 2.6.14364.?Is there a stable version that allows Forum games of TripleA?
Thanks

You and your playgroup decide who plays which power.
- Does the person creating the Forum game have to go first?
No, it is always the game/map that determines which power goes first / the turn order.
- How can I invite multiple players to my game?
You usually start the game once you have someone to play with. So you can ask before. Then create a forum topic, set up the game and point your group to that thread.
When I add multiple emails to the Dice Server Options CC: area it goes red and I cannot start a game.
Separate the emails with a space and don't leave a space afterwards - right? That is a known bug, a regression in latest 2.6 versions actually. It looks like you are currently limited to three addresses (not players). I don't know when this bug showed up for the first time.

Yes it is all a big mess currently. You need to find out which 2.6-pre-release version allowed for flawless forum games.

The only one coming to my mind who took care about PBF in the past has been @RoiEX .

Thank you for the prompt reply. As you recommended I did try earlier versions of TripleA 2.6
2.6.14353 is the first release and it has the Dice Server email issue so it seems that error was introduced in the first release of 2.6Does anyone know of a much earlier version that allowed Forum games?
Like 1.9 for example?Thanks

Unfortunately you will not be able to play by forum with earlier TripleA versions.
The reason is that the forum software (NodeBB) changed at some time. Because of this TripleA had to be updated to match the requirements of the forum software.
In other words: Older TripleA versions are incompatible to the forum software - and thus won't allow for PBF. -
By the way: As an (uncomfortable) workaround you can manually save the game and post the turn summary and the savegame file to the respective forum thread.
