you can do this

Meaning you can copy and paste from one xml (left) into another (right).Also you can have many files open at the same time. (see the tabs)
XML Copy Editor probably can do the same.

It means exactly what it says, there is reference to a resource called "Tech" but "Tech" is not on the resource list. Remove the references or add the resource. This could also be a capitalization issue or a name issue, maybe techToken was meant.

@rogercooper @rogercooper I looked the XML and confirmed that the issue is the resource is called "techToken " but is referenced as "Tech".

@rogercooper Yes, you got me going again chasing down errors when trying to launch. Now I am trying to change the name of every country and sea zone so the nukes can go off in each one of them. It looks like it will take many hours and even days to get that done, But I don't see any reason to be discouraged. I was thinking there for a while that maybe the project was too ambitious.

@ted-self You may want to use a program that allows you to replace text in multiple files like File Monk.
Why do you need to change area names to set off nukes?
My experience with Age of Tribes is that it is somewhat dull. Units may have interesting names, but they tend to be the same old units with somewhat better stats. You may want to increase unit differentiation especially with higher movement allowances.
What makes A&A/TripleA interesting is the unbalanced starting positions and things like delayed entry. The combat model lacks sufficient detail to be interesting in and off itself.

@ted-self To all map makers and potential map makers, hours of confusion and learning combined with hours of tedium.

@ted-self If you are changing a territory name you need to change in the following files.
- <game>.xml
- centers.txt
- polygons.txt
There can be other txt files associated with the mod, they should all be checked and changed. Use File Monk are a similar program.
If you need to check every territory on the map, use a forEach loop.

@rogercooper Thank you, I need all the help I can get. Basically trying to put age of tribes units and techs on alexander350 world map. It sounded so simple when I first thought of it, lol! As far as I know age of tribes has never been put on any map other than the original.

The game.dtd file gives details on the structure of the xml file.game.txt . I have uploaded as a txt file, you will need to change the file type. Put in the games folder and you can use it to validate the XML code. I am not sure if it is up to date.

@rogercooper It plays, it still needs changes and fine tuning but the monster does play. Thanks for the help, I'm sure I will need more.

@ted-self I am having fun play testing, my cousin Patricia is amazed at my prowess and determination, but I am a bit tired of tech stuff at the moment. If anyone wants to help with the finishing touches just tell me where to upload it. Here are some things that need to be done. 1. Add camps at the start, (I used edit mode) add more nature units, caves and barbarians here and there. 2. Change the PUs of various territories as they are all set to 2 (5 for the 8 starting points). Change the names of the tribes to 1 Baltic=Aztec 2 Brittonic=India 3 Germanic= Europe 4 Hattic=China 5 Hellenic=Africa 6 Romantic=Middle East 7 Slavic=Slavic 8 Celtic=Inca. 3. When gunpowder comes along the price of everything will double? for Africa, Aztec and Inca. LOL Also those 3 should have no horse units until then. 5. Change the relationships to Europe and India allied, Inca and Iraq allied, China and Aztec allied, Africa and Slavic allied. Everyone else at war. This is so you can play as any 2 allied players against the world. 6. Add capitals to the 8 starting points. They don't mean much but still. 7. Change the splash screen and pop ups and intro to reflect the new realities.

Personally I would save it to Google Drive/One Drive as its so quick and easy to save many versions in the cloud.No sooner have you uploaded it and you will see a mistake.
Then when it stabilisers, then upload it to GitHub.

I think its 100MB, but you have to go some to beat that.

@thedog Well, when I tried to upload it to github I got an error message, file is too big, upload something smaller than 25mb. Go Figure. Anyhow I uploaded it to google drive, which I don't have much experience there but it seems to be there at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LsgfyNO9PNbpCCVjI2F-o0GCnWDmZcal/view?usp=sharing The name of the file is AgeWorld2.rar
So it will start and play but you will have to make note of all the things that need to be done that I mentioned above. There are no camps or caves and not near enough cavemen or nature, they need to be edited in. Also I took Europe and India, see previous post to see how the computer players were allied. So India was barely able to survive, being sandwiched between China and Iraq. However they did manage and Europe grew powerful and came to their rescue. ( I am always willing to start a new game with different alliances to keep it from getting stale.) Also during play testing I saw a blunder, the Slavs were supposed tp start in North Russia. Anyhow I am still playing, currently in round 24. I intend to keep playing until I see if the black death and the convoys come up right. At any rate if anyone is interested as I said before feel free to work on the xml and try to make most of those changes that I mentioned in a previous post. The age of tribes tech tree has got to be one of the greatest things I have encountered in game playing. To start with a group of cavemen (as in the movie Quest for Fire) and end up with missile fired nukes is super cool. Alexander350 might not be the greatest world map but the others looked like they probably had too many territories for me to deal with. Although I would love to see the age of tribes units and techs on any new map. -

Also I would rename your project to Age/Dawn/Epoch of Man/Mankind or similar.
Also change the title/header of this thread to the project name and add - Official Thread, then players looking for a map know its official and it contains a link to download on the first 1st page 1 post. New downloaders need all the help they get, they dont want to wade through lots of posts and text.
Also I would do a feature list to aid new downloaders.
