"Bad-Ass" 4 Nation FFA
-
Actually, regarding Malaca straits, I really need to redraw the borders of sea zones 36 and 37. Or the ideal fix would be to add a couple extra sea zones to create the separation that the Malaca straits provide.
But once I start redrawing sea zones. I will lose the benefit of the familiarity factor which is provided by using an existing popular map. Something I need to consider before I tweak sea zones and or territories to be ideal.

@general_zod Well to be honest the map itself is absolutely horrible to begin with. But I do get what you are saying about people being accustom to it.
-
Changing nation names isn't so easy anymore, I have a lot of conditions and triggers referring to them. I shoulda did it before. If I do decide to do it, I kind of like concept that was used in "Mutant Chronicles".
"In the 28th century, four rival corporations are in a constant state of war for control of the Earth."
Something like so, off the top of my head.
Russians could be the "Slavic Energy Consortium"
Japan, could be "Orient Robotics"
Germany, could be "Franks & Sax Group"
New Britain, "Anglo Mining Company"Working off of this , could add, special technologies that fit their type of businesses.
-
@general_zod Wouldn't really be that hard with Notepad ++ , using the filter and search you could replace everything in minutes.
-
Assuming everything was neatly coded and uniform throughout, perhaps.
-
@general_zod Nope doesn't matter. All the things that need to be uniform... are uniform.... otherwise your map wouldn't work. Neatness is a moot point since you'd just be using the "replace all" function.
-
I give credit in current game notes, and I will add as it continues.
I don't know the people personally that created the map. I just copied their names over from original xml. So I'm not sure getting whimsical is appropriate there.
But I can do that way with help to current mod.
-
The code for diplomacy is certainly uniform, wouldn't even be practical for me to attempt if I couldn't use the replace function. Other areas I have to go back and check what I did.
Since I wasn't aware of many shortcuts in the beginning.
-
@general_zod Yes but what I am saying is there are only maybe 2 terms per nation that have to be replaced across the entire XML.
Anywhere it says British.... or Britain. There shouldn't be any other references other than that.
-
@hepps
Also, upper case, lower case, singular, plurals, and context in which they were written. Meaning I wrote a lot of conditions and triggers to be viewed in history and appear to read like a informational statement and not some piece of code that will never be seen. But I know what your saying.
-
Ideally, Each nation should be referenced in only one way throughout. ie. Germany, Japan, Britain, and Russia
Simplifies modding.

These are nice. Interesting "Anglo Mining Company" roundel too.

Wheels are already spinning for a back story.
British economic decline, over population and lack of any clean energy sources in homeland. In conjunction with energy embargo from the Slavic Energy Consortium forces them to use up all their coal deposits. Until The English isles are irreversibly polluted, causing birth defects and illness on a unprecedented scale.
All the aristocratic families move to the pristine island of Madagascar to save themselves from the calamity. Leaving only the poor stranded and abandoned in former homeland. Eventually their mining operations on the African continent discover massive deposits of precious metals and stones. Instantly turning them, once again into a world power. The capital is permanently moved to Madagascar to solidify their hold there.
This whole ordeal creates great geopolitical tensions among the 4 ruling companies of the world!
World War looms! Hahaha...
-
@general_zod then we could make the map much darker and sinister.
-
Maybe a steampunk feel?
-
@general_zod I'm just the guy planting idea's in your head.
Don't ask me what your vision is. -
Someone tried steampunk themed mod of NML already. But it never built momentum, which took all the steam right out of their mod.
I'll keep it normal theme for now, but maybe down the road.
-
@general_zod I think that had more to do with the Mod design than the theme. But again, it's your Mod.
