Yea @JohnnyCat you need to use 14962. That's the one we were using in the test. You can have multiple engine versions, just need to use the same one as Trout and I until they get it all sorted.
I need to re dl 14962 again as I deleted it when I was trying to get into the new lobby.

@beelee SO I notice that when I play this game solo against the computer it buys a TON of naval mines and puts them on the land...
And despite taking all of the UK in a daring nazi operation early on, for something like 10 turns (until the AA got it) the UK bomber located on the squares at the top of the game board, kept bombing Berlin.
So how do we even use those squares? OH NEVER MIND I will read the rules, hahaha
Anyway it's exciting to get this to run now. Tho sexy fems in grass skirts will definitely beat watching NFL... any maybe even playing this game, lol.

Yea I just fired up Trout's save. As long as you use 14962 it'll fire for you.
I suggest giving the triplea Game Notes a heavy read. They explain it pretty well and have a window with the Captain's rules handy too.
It's a complex mod and requires a lot of edit use

@johnnycat Good morning Mr. Cat! Okay, looks like we are off and running now as I was able to open your R1 file without issue. I will be beyond impressed if this game becomes anything other than a learner's game as playing via Triple A is a learn by doing exercise. With that in mind, a few things for your R1:
- Looks like you purchased 11 infantry and 1 arty but they are not placed yet. So need to repost after placement.
- If you want to go into Edit Mode and change one of the infantry to an elite infantry that's okay with me. Elite infantry hit double on attack & defense and still only cost $3. Basically the best bang for your buck of any unit. So in HRE, it becomes almost standard play to always build an elite infantry each turn. They are limited though in that you can only buy 1 each turn, only place them in the capitol, and not have more than 1 per territory.
- Last thing is looks like you intended to post an edited R1 but it came across as .txt. Just FYI
But I was able to open the file so looks like we can play it through now

I don't know of any other way to do the game turn text other than to print to a text file. Please advise.
Since R1 was just a move around turn HOW ABOUT I REDO IT following all your advice?

For Elites
I think Trout thought your Turn Summary was a edited save.
How I do it is click on Turn Summary, then ctrl a that window and then ctrl c. You can then paste it into the game thread post.
Your way works too. It's just a one click open

@johnnycat Yep. Redoing more than okay. There are so many cool house rules in this game that it's hard to remember all of them. The five that seem to matter the most in the R1 turn are:
- Elite infantry buy
- Consider paratroopers. Sometimes a war of paratroopers and LCV's erupts over the Black Sea. Soviets can build paras but not Landing Craft. Not necessary for you to purchase but just wanted to let you know so if/when you play the dudes who know this game well such as Beelee or Panzer you will be prepared for their shenanigans
- Many folks like to build a Commissar on R1 to form their 1st Army. Again just a thought.
- Consider land mines. Not everyone buys them but many buy at least some for the early Soviet turns as they only cost 1 but can blow up an infantry which costs the other guy 3. Assuming those Nazis do attack Mother Russia at some point.
- Strategic Rail Movement. Soviets can move three units anywhere within their vast territory each turn which is very handy indeed to remember.
There are others too but sharing the usual suspects to get you started.

@johnnycat Also, I am always okay with somebody redoing a turn even if some combat took place. I try to remember that it's just a game and the other guys who play this game on Triple A generally have the same attitude as me.

Hey Guys,
I can play the game now (and will get out a new R1 in a few minutes) but, oddly, it only works on one of my MacBooks.
Yet both are running the exact same version of TripleA.
What else could be the issue?
It's not critical since I can use my other Mac but I'd love to solve this issue. Thanks

yea I have very limited experience with macs. Not really that good with computers in general
Are you trying to run both in pbem at the same time ? If so that might be the issue. Idk
Try turning off the one that doesn't work and restart -

you have the same engine version 14962 so that's fine. i can't see the whole error but it seems that it's looking at a different "Game Version" of UHD Boxes.

I cannot Control-S to save any sort of file so I have to save the game notes to a txt file.
This time the Russians actually started to read the rule book and took Tasty Fish's advice and bought a paratrooper we don't know how to use, a commissar whatever that is, an Elite Infantry, an artillery piece and 6 regular infantry units ready to get slaughtered.

@johnnycat oh and 3 mines that immediately used the railroad unit to move the mines to Ukraine. I guess I will have to use the editor to "arm" the mines at some point...

@johnnycat Commissar is hard for me to explain but there’s a thorough explanation in the rule book. We can let it slide for now but in the future the rail movement is done during Non-combat movement so before you place your stuff. Got an early wake-up so will post J1 tomorrow!

You can also activate save by going to "File" top left and hit it with the mouse
I would think that works for mac.
Yea you can't immediately move the LM's and arm them, unless you arm them in Moscow. You have to wait a turn and move, then arm or keep them unarmed as once they arm they can't be moved.

Yea Landmines are best explained in the "Game Notes". Read those and let us know if you have any questions, as there is lot going on with them.Paratroopers same thing but to a lesser degree. Commisars also.

@beelee This "placement" thing has come up before and all my games have placement BEFORE combat move.
This made no sense to me - but I used it with relish
Then, after the non-combat move, the game presented me with another placement opportunity.
So what is going on here and are we supposed to ignore this first placement phase?

Is the Global 1940 an actual Board Game? As a kid I played all those basic axis and allies boardgames (Europe, pacific, the world) but as I read the rules for this game we are playing it seems to me that this is an actual boardgame! I had thought all this TripleA stuff was computer only.
This would also explain why that Captain person told me about "hand painted pieces" and "playing in person."
I would LOVE to play any of you guys in person - for some reason there is a large bunch of players in Denmark but I would hope that people in the States play as well... You guys know of any clubs or something?
