TripleA plans to remove Easy AI - my computer will die!
-
Hi,
I've read that EasyAI is outdated and because no one is working on it, there is a plan to remove EasyAI at all. Problem is, I cannot play TripleA (I'm playing only with AIs) with any other AI settings than Easy! Simply, on bigger or more complicated, small maps my computer is dying. For example, one AI player in most games, when set to FastAI or HardAI (they need more or less time, but comparable time in my case) makes me waiting even 2 minutes for each player, so, if I play Rise of The Sun, I can easily fall asleep.
I have AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.40GHz and 8GB of fast RAM. Yes, it's old system, but TripleA isn't MafiaIII...
Help!

@comr At some point, the Easy AI probably will be removed but not until Fast AI has significantly better performance. Easy AI is absolutely terrible and pretty much just randomly moves units around so is nothing more than a place holder player.
To minimize AI turn time:
- Set AI Pause duration to 0 or something very low
- Close other programs on your computer
- Provide TripleA more memory by setting it in the vmoptions file
Fast AI should run fairly fast on most small/medium maps and should be considerably faster than Hard AI on most maps.

@redrum Thank you, I already minimised the AI pause, but I wasn't sure if I could safely make it zero, o I've mede it close to zero. Now I'll turn it all to zero, but it will not change much. I'm always using "clean" system for any play. No antiviruses, no background soft of any kind, no not needed services and so on. I'm not newbie, but thank you... It's time to buy new PC..

@comr maybe just add some ram or new ram?

I hope that the EasyAI is kept because sometimes you don't want good play from the AI. Do you really want Zombies or the Egyptians in the 6 Day War to be using the Hard AI? There should be some scope for an AI's that are either mindlessly aggressive, fairly random or reluctant to attack.

@rogercooper Yeah, that is one of the other conditions to retire it. Essentially creating a 'semi-random' version of FastAI (not just a really bad AI that's actually trying).
