EXP Game 1 Trout vs Johnny Cat
-
Yea Cat you should write a Game Report for part of the qualifications needed for the Denmark Tournament.
You don't have to go as in depth as I do
but screenshots after Rd 3 ( Early 1941 ) and End Game should suffice. I can help you with it if you want.I suggest you guys play the same sides, as I think it will be easier for Cat to learn playing the same Countries again.
The Reich is the most complicated and will probably just end up being confusing at this point.
Just a suggestion

Ah
Uh
HmmmSpeechless
Well I’ll just bullet point this then.
-
No I don’t want to accept that and had I seen that coming I would have avoided a “technical you win” trigger.
-
@trout is correct that Germany is strong. Not only that in my play testing the japs immediately recover almost everything.
Surely any eco victory must give the opponent a full turn to respond yes?
-
There IS TOO MUCH STILL TO LEARN and I very much want to see the German front. Maybe those two tanks being “brilliantly” placed in the far east actually have a dark later turn western front cost making it not so brilliant.
-
So I respectfully do not accept victory and request that we continue play.
Thanks Gents.

-
heh heh
yea Economic Victory is calculated end of France's turn. Capital captures require one full turn from when they are captured.
Panzer and I have played through multiple games after a similiar situation but that is up to Trout if he wants to continue

Edit
I also just sent this link for a printed Rulebook to newenr https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36945/axis-allies-global-1940-house-rules-expansion/487?_=1769009653780Idk if they still have them but just in case you interested for when the internet goes down in Formosa

-
@beelee cool. Thanks
-
@johnnycat Hey JC. I think you should accept the victory. I have had two previous games where I won on Turn 3 with a Sea Lion victory and for both, it just didn't feel right. Since the Axis was on the run in other parts of the board, but hey that's the rules. Sometimes boxing matches end in Round 1 when a boxer gets a knock-out punch just right against a superior opponent. So yes I understand your thoughts/feelings about it.
Yes, I could potentially nab both Egypt and Leningrad and hold but that won't stop J from imploding as they are besieged on every side and G/Mafia too far away to stop that. And taking Leningrad/Egypt puts Axis in a strong position but victory in those situations is still several turns away since the House Rules for capitol defense make it difficult to take Moscow or Berlin.
-
@trout ok
And thanks for the compliments earlier this morning. Rather sweet.
But as @beelee said are you up to play out this game out anyway ?
Because I don’t think you anywhere even close to getting Egypt.
And the way I figure it Leningrad is nothing if I can move or destroy that factory.
In truth I’m rather desperate to play out the eastern front turns 10-15 because I’ve focused on that the entire game.
Thx
-
Hey is it just me or ... do these games really get into your mind? I knew Trout was going to be busy but nonetheless I spent the last 5 days pondering this again and again - not the Japan front, but Egypt and Russia. I feel now THAT I MUST ALWAYS have at least a couple of these games playing out... Am I addicted?
This entire game I have been planning for what will happen Turns 10-15 : my plans from turn 1 were to make a delay tactic in the pacific; tho it turned out achieving a bit more than I had initially expected...
Anyway, I really love this game now and THANK YOU BOTH VERY MUCH.
I could "accept" the win (but still want to play out a few turns just to learn) and yea I get it... a win is a win...
Hey, I have head that this game is (in the early game) hugely imbalanced in favor of the axis for just that Turn 3 Sea Lion reason. IS THIS TRUE?
In any case, however, I would request that we play out this one just for the fun of it and to really learn if my diverting those tanks to the far east doesn't actually end up being a too costly move.

PS. I just joined some group of guys in the Bay Area that play tons of games like this.
-
@johnnycat Hey JC. That won’t work which is related to the most exquisite part of this game which is that no two games are ever the same and that Axis and Allies are perfectly balanced in this House Rules version.
You are trying to determine what is the most perfect strategy and I tell you the truth- there isn’t one. There are only very few strategies that are optimal play. One is attacking France on G1 and another is the Allies sending some air units to Russia with Lend Lease if they are able but that’s about it. The strategy you’re doing this game won’t work every time
-
@johnnycat So I think we just accept that you kicked my fanny this game and save your double top secret future plans for the next game. That is truly how it works. Good night from Texas
-
Ok well I have to comply with whatever you want.
However, since you mentioned it, I feel I should clarify that I was NOT actually seeking any grand strategy.
I merely wanted to see where this game will go. I don’t want to punish you though.
So I’ll accept your decision and write up the report. However if you ever want to play out a few more turns on this game just for the heck of it, I’m in.
This is all so very cool. As my wife just told me, the winning or losing part has absolutely very little to do with the joy in playing! So thank you again for the game and especially the patience to teach this newbie this amazing game.
And now….
Dramatic heroic music starts to crescendo.
And I extract my black leather glove and …
… bitchslap (softly) you once to your left cheek, then ever-so-softly backhand another soft, but symbolic, slap thus challenging you to another round of “play the new guy.”
Whatdoyasay?
-
@johnnycat Good Morning. Yes, I am in. Which side you want to play?
-
@trout AWESOME.
I’d love to play the bad guys, of course.

@trout
Ok I’ll start a new thread, get Germany turn 1 going and we’ll see how this one goes .How exciting ! Thx a bunch.
