@redrum didn't realize you could use those the same turn you get them. Also, i think the game is currently letting me transport heavy artillery with trucks even though i don't have advanced logistics. is that correct?
-
@ubernaut Yes, the logistics line only impact sea transports amphib for non-infantry units.
-
@redrum the documentation says that heavy arts are 3 cost but land transports should only have 2 carrying capacity tho right?
-
@ubernaut They were changed to 2. You can look at the tooltip or unit help.
-
-
should air transports be able to lift 2 materials or inf with advanced logistics?

yes

@wirkey thanks i guess my shared italy/german tech hadn't activated yet it always tricks me because germany's turn happens on the next round.
-
@ubernaut
yeah, if you research something during Italy rnd x Germany can only use it in rnd x+2. That's why I think shared tech, if used correctly, favors the Allies a lot. US gets to use it shared techs in x+1 if UK gets it in x. Besides that UK and US can use pretty much the same techs while Italy could use different ones than Germany, once it has the basics (logistics, production) -
@wirkey i think the main weakness in shared tech for the allies is that production is already activated for us and uk has so many free materials at the beginning there is not much reason to go for that early but it is possibly the best tech to go for early and for the uk, allowing minors to build air transports, especially early would be a big advantage in terms of the previously mentioned free materials.
-
@wirkey The manual says Germany shares tech with Italy (and UK with US) but doesn’t explicitly mention vide versa. Does tech sharing work in both directions?
(And is it recommended to turn it on or off?)
-
@mattbarnes no its one way italy shares to germany and uk shares to us

With shared tech I usually don't go for production with UK early. Go for the techs both UK and US need: logistics, special warfare. After that UK usually goes for air techs while US is researching naval.
Most people would likely agree with you that production is the best tech early. But I prefer logistics. Those +1 movement for trucks and trains and the scrambling option for carriers can have a huge impact. -
@wirkey well i did say possibly.

Italy gives Germany, UK gives US.
Most games I play without it, but it can be fun to try it once in a while -
@wirkey i think i usually go for special warfare first with either sides shared tech.

I don't think Italy needs sw that early so I prefer having them research logistics and production. Germany doesn't need sw either, so they can go for land warfare for example and produce adv artillery by round 4 or 5 and move them to the front quickly
-
@wirkey italy and us both feel pretty useless without sw uk too for that matter.
i do focus on advanced art/tanks tech first for germany, that branch doesnt seem to help italy much.
-
Imo Italy can do pretty good without SW. The only place where it might be useful is Malta. Building some marines early might pay off. Other than Malta my main objective is to get as much units into North Africa as possible. For landings in Syria, Cyprus etc single marines are sufficent and they usually only happen in later rounds.

Special Warfare I perceive as needed from Italy. But definitely not on T1 in general unless the Allied player is a novice.
Special Warfare also threatens Cairo IF the UK Med-Fleet is not built up, and may force Wavell (or Alexander!) to abandon W.Egypt.
Main point of S.Warfare is that you can 'add' to an attack to W.Egypt an amount of troopers instead of having to land them first in Lybia @ Tobruk usually.
Even Germany could make use of S.Warfare admittedly (They can produce marines, sure but S.Warfare is a powerful tech all around) - to retake Copenhagen, to land INF in Leningrad, for ENG units to have some extra omph in Urban territories.
Not needed - sure - but handy? Certainly.
