1940 map with 1942 rules?
-
Is there such a map and if not, could someone point me in the right direction to create one? I've been reading the map maker docs but I don't want to reinvent a wheel that's already rolling...

@Michael-Hoover I don't believe so. The main reason is the when you are in 1940, you need to consider diplomacy. So the only official A&A maps that did that were Global/Europe/Pacific 1940.

@redrum I'm actually thinking he means using the Global map with starting date 1942 (thus no strong need for politics) and v5 rules, but I don't believe he's been clear enough (yet). Basically, what I understand he wants to do is having v5 (1942 second edition), but just bigger (more zones).

Thank you. Cernel, that is what I was trying to say!

@Michael-Hoover Ok, then, I don't believe there is anything like this. There is the "World War II Global 1942 2nd Edition" game (same map as any basic global), however, that starts probably at the point you want, or very close. So, you could start from there and make some relatively few changes to "reduce" it to v5 rules (v5 rules are already substantially a reduced version of Global rules, with a very few units values changes).

@Cernel Ok I see.
@Michael-Hoover You may want to try some custom maps instead. Many of them like New World Order or World At War are larger than the standard A&A maps.
-
@redrum Yeah, he could also take World At War or some other "big maps", change the starting setup and ownership as per representing 1942 (if not already) and updating them to v5 rules. In this case, I would actually suggest starting from Big World : 1942 v3 Rules and making a Big World : 1942 v5 Rules (you really need only a few changes). If well done, I actually think it would be a good addition to the Big World map itself.

Thanks for the ideas I'll check that out!
