How to copy and edit map? Changes apparently overwritten by master...
-
My friend and I want to make a scenario for ourselves based off 1940 2nd Edition.
We want to add resource icons to the base map, so I saw the tutorial on the Decoration Placer, which seems appropriate: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/blob/master/docs/map-making/tutorial/map-and-map-skin-making.md
I added an icon, and placed it using the tool, and saved a new folder and .txt, but it wouldn't show up. I tried various combinations and ultimately tried placing the icon in the misc folder and editing decorations.txt directly. Still no changes. I just took decorations.txt and edited the locations in it, but everything shows in the normal place. If I try to follow the cheezeburger cat example here: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/blob/master/docs/map-making/tutorial/map-and-map-skin-making.md it also doesn't work, and the cat isn't updated.
I'm pretty sure the base "world war ii" map settings are overriding everything I edit. If I remove the
world_war_ii_global-master.zip
out of downloadedMaps, TripleA complains when I open my saved map.How do I "break" my copied folder from the core map? Is there a tutorial I missed I can read? A lot of tutorials imply you can copy out folders and edit them to mod maps, so this is very confusing/misleading.

@themaster42 The zip file is being found and used first before any other folder. You can try extracting and removing the zip file and then modifying the newly unzipped files.

@lafayette That did it, thanks!
The error message starting after removing the ZIP was quite imposing. It seems I didn't fully try it with the ZIP removed.

How can I break the association to the global-master.zip in my new folder, so I can work on the map while still having the default Global in my TripleA installation? (So I can play games as normal, hah.)

@themaster42 Rename the folder with your mod. You'll need to rename the xml as well.
