I cannot host
-
I have been able to host for years and now I cannot. I don't know why. I have not changed anything as far as I know.
-
This is what happens.
I believe my router and my firewall are all ok and I should be able to host but I cannot. I've no idea why.
-
Now everything works despite the fact that I've changed nothing.
I maintain it should have worked also when I did what at this topic. I've no idea why it did not.
-
And now it does not work again...

@cernel Did you click 'report to triplea?' Please comment in the github issue that was created so we know which one is yours. IIRC the game-id should be created by the server and then returned to the game client. That id is then used later when communicating with the server. Seemingly it failed to be created with the server. This is likely a server problem. Having the stack trace and time stamps will be helpful, which are created when 'reporting to triplea'

Now it works again and I did absolutely nothing (I changed absolutely nothing and did nothing but watching some videos in internet since the last time it didn't work).
I was unable to click to report to TripleA. The "View Help Website" window makes impossible to report anything because you cannot click on the "TripleA Error" window while the "View Help Website" window is open and whatever you click on that window closes both the host and the "TripleA Error" window.
-
@cernel That problem of the 'view help website' dialog closing both dialogs is would be a good bug report (probably one that would be marked as good for beginners, which tend to get a lot of traction!)
-
@lafayette Now all is working, so I cannot replicate the problem any longer, so I cannot properly file a report.
-
@cernel The screenshot of the two dialog windows, the summary that closing one closes both, and that you hit an error with 'game-id' being null triggered this. Those are the needed key pieces. A developer can hack the code to inject the error and would be able to reproduce.
-
addendum, the focus of the bug report I would intend to be that you were not able to submit an error report, and _not_that 'game-id' was null. Those are two different problems.
The game-id problem is worth an error report. Though, it requires some investigation into the logs and is rooted somewhere in 2.5. I don't think I have bandwidth to do that, hence I would not bother cutting a ticket for the game-id being null problem beyond what you've reported here already.
