USA3 just bought stuff, moved stuff, etc. but was surprised to find out that we were at war with Germany at the end of the turn - I had hoped to hang out with Hitler...
China did as they do - but they will return to wipe out the Japanese Plague soon enough...
And the UK did mostly India theater stuff - NOTE: I would like to have all the Land Mines in Burma ARMED...
I guess that is it; please let me know if I made any mistakes.

@johnnycat Looks fine to me. Your China moves are as good as any player on the planet so you are a fast learner I guess in terms of the moves you do. Just need to learn the rules and you will be a force. Only mistake is that you can only put 3 pieces in Western USA/SZ 10 while at peace. Since until war, all three of the industrial complexes for USA are minors. Then they convert to majors after DOW. But let's play on as it's a learning game. Will post I3 later today

Good Morning Cat
I think it' morning there
I don't really know though
So to arm the LMs in India, turn on edit "Add Units" , click on India, select "Changer". There are border specific ones for India so add the
"India_Burma" one or ones
Then remove the unarmed ones. You have to handroll for the LMs before battle and edit any casualties.
It can be hard to find the right LM sometimes. If in doubt just pick a generic one and document in the comment log where it's defending.
Edit
Wow yanks a got a ton of Subs already
Edit 2
You have 2 Elites in Scotland. Can only have 1 Elite in a TTy. So either take Ireland or swap him out for a regular Inf.Reminder. The Commandos are only good if paired with Arty
-
@trout Dear FieldMarshal von Tasty Fish,
Indeed General Montgomery and The Chaps (I forgot the admirals’ names) decided to plop down an unstoppable fleet in one turn. Which at this rate will be turn 8 (sure hope Stalin will still be around).
So Operation Sea Lion better get going soon, lol
Or maybe I’ll do something super weird.
BAD NEWS for the game, but GREAT NEWS for me, is that I’ll be out of internet (game play) contact for five days.
Oh and THANK YOU for the USA notes about minor factories…. I had no idea! Is that info buried in those house rules?
As for China… wow they seem to have zero choices. Unless
Franky decides to pretend the Japs were coming and decided a preemptive strike.I look forward to hiring Doolittle and his crew, heehee

Sweet !
You going backpacking in the interior ?Well whatever the reason, have fun being disconnected.
Tune in some senses
Peace

@johnnycat China always dies unless something strange happens. The only time it didn't die in one of my games is when China rolled lights out on J1 killing all four of my ground dudes. Then the Allied player immediately declared war with Russia/UK/ANZAC and put every single possible unit on Yunnan. Even then I almost took it. Every single other game, it lasts longer than France but the result is the same. Good luck being unplugged. It's good for the soul from time to time. Gives you more time for fried scorpions and raw octopus cuisine yes?
-
@beelee WOW quite close.
This week’s reason is to check out doing some multi-day hikes in ALISHAN to the end of the Japanese-built MianYue (silent moon) railroad line. I went to the first tunnel this time. Need permit to do it all.
And also climb the highest peaks here: Jade Mountain (YuShan 12,966). Also located here in Alishan. Peace. Rock on. <—- we need to hear these more often again.
-
@trout have not found scorpions to eat but I’ve been eating toco (raw octopus/sushini) for years back home.
Thanks for telling me about the Chinese. But I figure they will be coming back to nag you soon enough.
I’ll be back to a computer in 12 hours ! Stalin will then drive out the Japanese infection and keep all those beautiful Hangzhou women for himself.
-
I’ll move them immediately. I might as well redo the last turn but up to @Trout

The rules in this game !!! Incredible.
Ok. Thank you.

More RULES QUESTION
1 how many units can be built in Egypt ?
2 do players typically buy a factory for Egypt or just place bits in South Africa and rr them up?
- Are fighters good for repelling invasion fleets like sea lion? Seems like that would be a best defense but I don’t know these rules.
Thanks.
I’m back to civilization in 6 hours.
-
I’ve gone through 50 train tunnels now and about to puke from the rocking sideways… darn Japanese built this thing when they colonized Taiwan…
But back to figuring out this crazy amazing game:
How does subs intercept fleets ? Can enemy fleets move through ?
Example: sea zones 109 110. If Uk has a stack of fighters and there are subs in those zones… how can a German invasion fleet get around this?
To put it another way… when can subs act like naval mines?
Is there any examples of play to help learn this game? If not
Would you guys be interested in helping me make such videos for a YouTube channel? I’d love to add such a thing to mine.

Hi Cat
Glad you enjoying your trip. Minus the train ride

Fctrys and Subs work basically the same as the OOB rules
https://www.hasbro.com/common/documents/60D52426B94D40B98A9E78EE4DD8BF94/6B7BC7B257E049558181A7D71B822DCF.pdf(special Global Rules at bottom of rulebooks)
with a couple exceptions. Original Fctrys at Game Start can be upgraded by the Original Owner to "Heavy Industry" . Page 27 of the Captain's rulebook
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jI_1JdIC-1KiTihBICJAbtX3GpVYnNgf/view?pli=1Basically, for 2 PUs you can update a Minor Fctry so it can now produce "4" instead of "3" units per turn.
A Major Fctry costs 3 PUs to upgrade and can produce up to 12 units per turn instead of 10.So, your Egypt Fctry can only produce 3 units. Same as OOB and yes it is a common build in OOB as well as EXP or HRE, HouseRulesExpansion.
The S Africa Fctry can be upgraded and then produce up to 4 units per turn.Submarines can be ignored by other Naval Vessels unless it is an unescorted Transport. This is the same as the OOB rules and triplea does it correctly.
The biggest difference are the German U-boats. Page 41 of the Captain's rulebook. Basically, they only cost 4 PUs instead of 6 and if there are 3 or more present, they will form a "Wolfpack" and all U-boats will Attack or Defend at "3" for the first rd of combat only.
Edit
Ftrs and Infantry are your best bet to defend against Sealion. See the "Home Defense Rule" page 38Edit 2
Subs aren't that effective by themselves in a defensive role. They are better off part of a larger Fleet where you can use them to strike offensively. Either in combat or Convoy raiding. You can dl some saved games from the "Play By Forum" thread that Panzer and Trout and I have played. Look through "History" to show each turn and how it played out.
You can also read some of the "Game Reports" at the A&A site here
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/37723/global-1940-1943-expansions-game-reportsand the Captain's "Strategy Guide" is here
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/37458/strategy-guide-global-1940Edit 3

Wow ! What a Badass looking Mountain ! Might be a little sketch climbing it this time of year
Probably have to overnight it. I guess it depends what elevation you start at. Still, can't be a whole lot of daylight right now.Use Caution

Edit 4

Beyond my paygrade

That looks more like a Expedition lol
-
@beelee hey B. Greeting from Chiayi now. I survived
And my new DJI mini 5 got some good footage of the MiangYue (silent moon) abandoned railroad.
That climb is actually not technical but this trip was just a scout and any actual summiting was more a dream of all elements coming together perfectly. And they did not.
So I’ll have to return.
Thanks for the axis allies stuff. Despite my reading all the rules, the house rules, the custom rules, the dreamers rules etc I still feel
Overwhelmed. Will just have to play some turns to get a feel for all this.
-
Sweet
I actually did a little research and it looks like a fun climb. Not as technical as I thought
Those are for kids
Yea after about 2-3 games people tend to pick it up. I read the rules or parts of every day for 2-3 years when I was modding it for triplea.
I still have to read them lol so does the Captain

Anyway, it's all about fun. It's a bit more involved than some care to deal with. You doing good man

-
@johnnycat Super jealous of you being in Taiwan. Looks like unlike me, when you have a work trip, you are able to mix in some tourism. I am a mountains guy but unfortunately, at my age my knees can't hack it anymore except for hiking up things like Smoky Mountains with my kiddos. Raw octo must not be too bad since it's a regular appetizer for you. When I was in Japan, I ate some seafood that didn't even have a word for it in English according to my bilingual friend I was visiting. Good times. Love those Hot Baths there followed by green tea and sake - aahh. I digress. Yes, you can redo your turn. Beelee is always a gentleman about that as well. This game is already way more interesting than I thought it would be. I suspected a typical learner's game. What I didn't expect is that you pulled out a JC Russian Tank gambit and intuitively know how to play China well. You are also getting ready to lay down a D-Day smackdown which I have not yet seen somebody else do exactly as you are.
Yes, it's a common play to build a minor factory in Egypt. Really helps anchor your African/Middle East defense and allows UK to help out Russia by trickling units up through Persia/Caucasus route. But make sure you can hold it if you do build it because capturing an Egyptian factory looks mighty tasty to Benito and his Fascist buddies.
-
calamari is what we called it in Alaska. Although we did actually cook it. Not for long though

Fisherman buddy would bring one in once in a while
Sake Banzai !
-
@trout
WOW. We really need to get on a phone and chat some I’d say. Lots in common from what you’ve been writing. As far as the game goes: rather than redo how bout we just make those minor corrections.
Maybe help me to clean up. @beelee could maybe help too.As I recall :
-
I built more than 3 on western USA. So I’d have to move some crap to central I guess.
-
As B pointed out, I stacked an elite in the northern UK I think. So either I’ll take the cash back and put an extra inf in London (which seems like normal) or you could go out on a limb and pretend that elite dude invaded Ireland (assuming there is a land bridge. I don’t recall how this game does that Uk-to-Ireland move )
Not sure I messed up anything else but I dunno.
Thoughts ? Comments ?
PS. You both in Texas now yes? You guys ever meet? I guess I’m curious to chat about more than the game so I’ll just PM ya both.
And what yall think about my idea to make video tutorials for this thing ? This thing being “Axis and Allies G40 - with Captain’s House Rules” <— please tell me the correct name of this game if I got this wrong.
-
-
Yea amazingly there is a land bridge to Ireland in the Global 40 World

Easy now. I'm a yankee albeit a midwest one

Yea crockett gonna do a video on his channel soon. If I'd finish my Game report from the multi he'd probably start on it
I only have a year and a half to go. I will try and work on it after my nap
Anyway, the more the merrier I say
The Captain had talked about it but as far as I know, nobody has done one yet. Video that is.Yea I'd just edit a dude to UK and remove the extra Elite in Scotland. I can't remember about the WUSA place. Trout will dial you in.
-
-
Yea it'd be a lot of work. I started a while back with some examples at the other site for how triplea does it. A lot of it is out of date now though.
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36998/global-1940-and-1943-expansion-for-use-with-triplea
Actuall crocket did an interview with the Captain and he talks quite a bit about the mod there
He's The Captain towards the end of the list
