new forum post for setting up a new game test
-
@mickAAMOUSE Hi, I tried posting to your forum and got the same error message as your bug report. I think the issue is caused by the upgrade of the forum software but I am not sure. For now, I suggest you use "Play By Email", and then copy/paste the turn summary and manually post that to your thread. That's what all the other people here are doing

@beelee have you encountered any issues with directly posting to the TripleA forum lately? Is this a recent issue or is this going on for some time?
-
a week ago or close to two now, crockett had a issue with the direct post. So we just do it the way you taught me.
Copy the summary and make a save game and then post both directly to the thread.
It's known about. I don't use it, so haven't been following

but yea part of some of the new updates. Not sure if it was nodeBB or a engine release
-
@VictoryFirst thank you for your help! I am trying this too, but I think I'm doing something wrong there - no matter what I enter in the email 'to' field, I can never send a test email and the 'to' always stays red:

I don't think the yahoo is the problem - the 'to' seems to stay red no matter what I enter... I just created a yahoo email because I couldn't seem to register my gmail on the martri dice server...
Any insights appreciated!

Hi Micky
did Victory link you this https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/4076/1-trout-axis-vs-victoryfirst-allies-g40-house-rules-expansion-by-the-captain?page=1
If marti registered you with yahoo it should work. If not gmx and proton mail both work
Edit
Actually PBF isn't posting directly to the thread right now. So once you get it to fire up, you will need to hit Turn Summary, ctrla ctrlc and paste that into the post in your game thread. You will also need to manually save and post that save into your post as well. -
Hi Beelee,
Do you mean is should start a play be email game, and then post the turn summaries into the forum, and then my opponent copies that into his game somehow?
(right now I cant start a pbf game due to the above error)
thanks!
-
Yea I do it a little different than pbf
Make sure both emails are registered, as you discovered gmail doesn't work or I don't think it does. Anyway it should send you a verification saying you're registered with Marti
I use PBEM so click on that
then I put my opponents email first, I doubt it matters,
then my emailThen a Game description, think it's optional but I do it anyway.
The Register button takes you to Marti Dice Roller

Hit Test Server
Then you should be ready to go
Edit
ignore the email provider thing and unless some player is AI, ignore it too.Edit 2
Once you get it to fire, do your turn and when it's done hit Turn Summary
and then ctrla ctrlc

make a save ctrls
and then post to your Game thread. Will look like this

White wall is Summary and green link is save.
Opponent downloads link and puts it in his "savedGames" folder which is inside your "triplea Folder"

then start triplea
select saved game
then pbemand fire it up.
Most people will use "Start Local Game" to do a test turn and when they're happy with it will do the real turn in pbem then.
Fwiw we post are games on PBF even though it's pbem. It doesn't matter though as pbem and pbf are interchangeable. You just have to use Victory's directions for PBF
Edit 3
Also, it'll say "Dice Server On" bottom right when you're in pbem. It won't say that when in local mode.
It takes a couple trys but you should pick it up quick
Ask if you get stuck. -
thanks beelee!!
I think I'm getting somewhere.

Think I've got it!
Thank you!! Definitely would not have figured this out without you!So when your done with your turn you just have to leave it there, and the next player just picks it up?
And if a decision has to be made by your opponent during your turn you just pause and ask essentially (scramble, defend factory raid or whatever)? -
yea I struggled on my own over the years. Figured it out a couple times only to forget it as I rarely played on forum and was gone from the internet for long stretches of time.
Victory finally clued me in

Yea so for a scramble, we take a screenshot of the battle and make a save at that point so your opponent can see your entire move as that may affect their response.
Then you have to wait. You can also play live on the 2.5 lobby. It'll be changing soon to 2.7 but it's not quite ready yet

Edit
You should check out BlackElk's Global 40 map. Same game, just different looking units and map.Under experimental in 2.5 or alphabeyical in the prerelease
