Total World War: December 1941 (BETA) 2.8.0.5
-
@kurtkafka Well, logistics is important but I'd argue that fighter range is even more important as missing where some fighters can reach can be game changing. The latest TWW version now has unit icons that show which units have been upgraded by techs. Glad to help you setup a PBF/PBEM game.
-
@general_zod Yes the manual was created as a paint.net image... so changes are now near impossible.
But you live you learn.
Next game will have a manual that is much easier to update.
-
Hi,
where can I get the new Version 3.0.0.0 of TWW?
And: TWW does not start anymore. When I use 2.8.0.5, I cannot start "Local game". I can select the players (Human, Easy AI, and so on), but when I press "Play", the window disappears for a half a second and then appears again - but no TWW.
When I choose another map like "Big World: 1942", this starts.Best

@loveplayingaaa TWW v3.0 isn't released yet so v2.8.0.5 is the latest. You need a version of the latest pre-release of TripleA to play 2.8.0.5 as it uses some new engine features: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/tag/1.9.0.0.11996
-
@redrum Can you estimate, when TWW 3.0.0.0 will be released? I am not sure, if it makes sense to start a game using the old version 2.8 und a few days later 3.0.0.0 will be published. Normally we play this game for 3 weeks.
-
@loveplayingaaa Probably not in the next few weeks. There is still considerable amount of XML updates that need done and testing of those changes.
-
@loveplayingaaa Yeah you are free to start a game. I have been very busy as of late and have not been working on the remaining updates pretty much at all.
-
@hepps I've been trying to hook up with ya for the rundown on the Toulon fleet. Or maybe you have it done already, it's been a while. Anyways if you need me, send me a link to new files and I can start.
-
@general_zod Yeah I appreciate the help. Will forward. As I said I have just been nut-bar crazy lately. Haven't even had time to pick on @prastle lately.

*** a few bugs ***
I am not sure, if this the right place for pulishing bugs, but here we go:
- german heavy bombers cannot bomb railways, but allied can do.
- politics: US spend 5 in order to make Spain and Sweden allies. Now they are axis-members and at war with US.
- when "advanced mechanization" has been developed, mech inf gets +2 attack and not +1 as stated in manual.
- the green half-circles in the manual for advanced anti-tank and advanced anti-air are not correct, must be green full circles.
Best

This is a good place for bugs that are in the map.
-
I will re-check the XML. There may have been some inconsistencies as I was fairly undecided while creating these newer features.
-
Do you have a game save where this happened. As far as I know all the political stuff works perfectly.
-
You are correct. I shall fix the bonus. Surprised it took so long for someone to notice this.
-
Yes there are several issues in the manual that are already being corrected.
Thanks for the input.
-
Since @redrum has so graciously managed to add the requirement for Airfields to allow intercepting...https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/491/require-airbase-to-intercept ...this feature will also be included into the new version.
-
another bug:
advanced fighters cannot escort bombers on strategic bombing missions. The advanced fighters will attack the ground units (tank, inf), but not escort.
How can I attach a save game here? -
@loveplayingaaa When you are writing a post simply click the icon indicated below...

It will prompt you to locate the file.
Your save games should be in...

-
Okay, now the advanced fighters could escort a bombing mission. So I am not sure, if its really a bug or I just clicked the wrong area (bombing in A and escorting in B).
But here's another bug - will occur really rare:
Spain is on side of the axis and attacked allied forces in West France. Spanish forces won, but the territory West France will not be colored the right way (bright blue). Save game is attached.0_1539451273735_spain cannot conquer West France.tsvg -
@loveplayingaaa I was going to say that if you send a fighter into a territory where there are no bombing targets... or defending fighters to scramble... then the fighter will always attack the territory directly.
-
Suggestion: option to auto-pause AI between phases would allow doing the unsupported actions for it in the move and production phase.
-
How is war declared with war versus neutrals only option? It skip from tech to combat phase.
-
@blackfox Being able to pause the AI and also having an AI processing indicator is something I would like to add eventually.
You need to have the map option 'Use Politics' checked to enable the politics phase for declaring war. It is off by default. Essentially you have 3 styles of politics for TWW: none (politics off & the default), war only (politics on & war versus neutrals during setup phase), and all options (politics on).
-
@blackfox Not sure if what @redrum was saying was totally clear.
Before you launch a game you need to go into the "Map Options"...

Then you have to enable "Use Politics"

This will allow you to involve the neutral nations in the game.
Once you launch the game the only other thing you need to decide is how the neutrals will be involved. If you place the "Declare War Only" on Options Island (AKA Greenland) then the only thing you can do is declare war.

If you do not use that, then the game will play out with full diplomacy.
