@rogercooper said in Roger's Scenario Thread: - Historical entrance of nations
I very much disagree. That was a huge turn-off for me. If you consider the size of the map and the movement of the units or even what is taken in 1 turn, a turn cannot be more than 1 month (more like 1 or 2 weeks), yet the powers enter the game so early that it is not even remotely justifiable on a historical stand point. Historically, Italy joined almost 10 months into the war. There is absolutely no way on a map of this scope that a turn can be anything remotely close to 10 months: it really feels like Italy joins when the war has barely started , so this definitely spoils the historicity of the game for me (or it is one of the biggest things doing so). , so this definitely spoils the historicity of the game for me (or it is one of the biggest things doing so).

@rogercooper Try different alliances to make interesting things happen. I have been playing conquest of the new world deluxe for a couple of months but I am about ready for some more Vikings.

@ted-self Feel free to improve this mod. It was somebody's experiment. The unit images are nice, there is not much else to recommend to it.

@rogercooper Naples is the capital of Italy? (And I think that it should be forbidden to have map names which are just the generic names of any wars, be it "Second World War" or "Great War".)
-

@cernel Lots of maps put the capital of Italy effectively in Naples, because Rome is too close to the boundary between Northern Italy and Southern Italy. This is the only mod that starts "Second World War". That is less confusing than all the mods starting with "World War II". This could have been a really a good mod with better balancing.

@RogerCooper Is there any maps that you have changed your mind on in terms of enjoyment?
(I also wouldn't mind a sort of quick list of your favorite to least favorite maps)
-

@board-3659 I can't really say I changed my mind dramatically on a map. As the AI has gotten better and my computer has gotten faster, I respond more favorably to large maps. I don't like the idea of ranking and rating maps. All maps have good and bad features. I will highlight a few maps which try to do things a little differently with success. The Grand War is relatively small scale map with completely divergent alternate history. WW2 Path to Victory improves on the WW2 Global Game. The Shogun Advanced tries to make the Sengoku period as it really was, a war of mountain passes and fortresses.

 Name World at War
Description World War II starting in 1939 on a large world map
https://axisandallies.fandom.com/wiki/World_At_War Good Points - Conflict all over the map
- Reasonably balanced
- Unit density is reasonable
- Losing a capital does not knock a nation out of the war
- AI plays fairly well, transports have a defense factor
Bad Points - Large map makes for a long game
- It can be hard to really defeat a major power
- A lot of ahistorical map anomalies

-

@rogercooper Have you reviewed any maps that are 1600s era? I know Caribbean Trade War but I really think a Thiry Years War Map would be cool
-

@board-3659 The only TripleA scenarios set in the 17th century involve Sengoku-period Japan. The Thirty Years War might make for a good scenario. I always like something other than another WW2 scenario.
