I'm inclined to say we keep posting to this forum thread. Perhaps when we hit 10 pages it'll be time to consolidate either to a single attached zip or attach the files as a repository

Thinking about this overnight, and given the lack of further input, let's go ahead with the repository:

• it's less work in the long run if we'll migrate to it anyways
• combining zip files to consolidate later sounds like a lot of busy work
• browsing through many pages of forums is also a bit tedious
• it's not the easiest to just download images from forum posts
• being able to download a single zip file for all assets is very convenient
• having the files be located in the correct folders should make it easier to use

So, I created this repository: https://github.com/triplea-game/map-maker-assets
It has been seeded with the unused assets that are being dropped from game engine.

To upload files, navigate to the folder where you want to upload a file, then click the 'upload files' button:

To download the contents of that repo to a zip file, click the "Clone or download" button and then "Download zip":

Anyone know about any flag icons for the following countries? If not, is anyone willing to make some? or at least recommend what they would look like?

Egypt, South Africa, Argentina, Nigeria, Mexico, and Brazil.

@ff03k64 What Size are the original flags that you are using? If you can post an example of all three here I probably already have them.

Or just tell me what map you are drawing the rest of the flags from.

I think the rest are from the default TripleA files. Things like Canada and India. If it isn't that, it would have been from the big world maps, as i think that is the one i am starting with.

Now, it is important to note that all of these flags are the modern (current) flag for these nations. I assumed that is what you wanted since you discussed doing a alien invasion game which is likely to be set in the present. Otherwise I also have all of the flags for the regions you asked for with the period flag.

@Hepps I checked in Wikipedia the Mexico one is WW1.

Some of frostion's work as well. I probably should go through his maps and consolidate all his units. He has a lot of cool ones

@ thread - if we're not going to use the map maker asset repository, I'm happy to close it down. It's exactly to fix problems like "these will be here for only 30 days", or map makers having to troll through pages and pages of forum post for what they find. Are we happy to just post here, or will ya'll move your assets to the repository? As mentioned, the repository lasts forever and can consolidate images to one zip automatically; that does seem more useful for me, but if it's not usable, then there is no point in having it.

It's good to have that, but most new or casual mapmakers will not see it anyways (of course, I'm not talking about @beelee, that is one of the most experienced), I'm pretty sure. Obviously, the things that are part of the program's assets will have much more visibility, instead.

Anyways, of course people won't always add stuff to it; you cannot expect that to happen, or even happen most of the times. That doesn't mean it's useless, but it's good to remind people, as I see you've done in bold at the first post of the thread, already.

Also, anyone could do the work of also scanning the old forum and grab the stuff in there, taking it to the official repository, but that would be some work.

I also recall that there were a series of similar repositories, at least for units images, somewhere in sourceforge. I don't recall where, but I'm sure they existed (tho, of course, almost no one was aware of those, as well).
