TWW Local (solo) Game Question
-
Can Total World War be played solo as a local game? I can't seem to launch it.
-
@cmmiles the latest version, 3.0 ?, will only work with the prerelease. The 2.8 or w/e should work
-
Yeah it looks that way. I found another post that described the same issue. Which file do I need from the Github page for Mac OS? Happen to know?
-
@cmmiles yea go to the triplea website and hit dl triplea and the mac option will come up. You need a new folder ( I just name it w/e the prelease is ) so you can keep the stable too.
-
@beelee awesome. So back to my other question, can TWW be played solo? Does it work out well?
-
@beelee Hmmmm. I'm not following something here. I did another download and I have:
Engine: 1.9.0.0.9687
Map: TWW: Dec 1941
Map Version: 2.7.7.2Is that not correct?
-
@cmmiles You'll need the latest TripleA pre-release engine to play TWW 2.8.0.5 as it uses some new features: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases/download/1.9.0.0.11996/TripleA_1.9.0.0.11996_macos.dmg
You can play it locally but the AI isn't that great at it as its a very complex map. But you can still learn against the AI or play against yourself to learn the rules. Then you can join the lobby or post here to get a game against other humans
EDIT: I just updated the download from the website so if you redownload from there it should work as well.

@cmmiles Idk haven't really played it just checked it out a little. Probably a good way to get familiar with it though. You could also check some games redrum and others have played
-
@redrum trying it now!
-
@cmmiles You can also beef up the AI if it's not challenging enough. Easiest method is to increase the PUs that AI receives each turn by clicking on "resource modifiers" during player selection phase of game setup. There you can give the AI a percentage or flat rate increase.

@cmmiles As mentioned above... playing TWW vs the AI will allow you to get a feel for the game. However, since the AI does not understand how to use Combat Engineers and Materials to construct anything, the experience will not be very competitive nor will it be reflective of the challenges you are likely to encounter against a human player.
