Axis & Allies & Zombies
-
I am thinking about converting Axis & Allies & Zombies to TripleA. Obviously, the engine does not support the full rules but I would like to get some of key features in.
One feature which seems hard to handle is the creation of zombies when infantry is killed. Any thoughts about how I could handle that? The best I could come up with be a trigger based upon large stacks but someone may have a better idea.
-
@RogerCooper Can you explain a bit more about how the zombie rule works?
-
Trigger should work. Not sure any engine needs to be added. I would also think adding an infrastructure tag to the units would work... "when destroyed turns into"
-
@redrum The rules for Zombies are
- Zombies are created when ever infantry are killed (or arise spontaneously on land)
- In your turn, Zombies attack at strength 1 for 1 round
- If you attack zombies, they defend at strength 2 for 1 round. Zombies can't hit aircraft.
4 In a 3 sided battle, zombies are hit on 6's by any side. Zombies themselves hit the defenders on a 1/6 chance and the attackers on a 2/6 chance. - For zombies to control an area, all living units must be eliminated
For all the details see the rulebook.
I am not sure what trigger Hepps is referring to. I don't see "whenDestroyed" trigger of any sort in TripleA. If would be good addition to the game.
-
@Hepps It happens each combat round.
-
@Cernel Yes I realized that after commenting. the idea of a unit changing sides mid battle would likely mean a serious overhaul to the engine.
-
@Hepps Well since the
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/327/unit-option-when-damaged-change-into-different-unit-weakened-battleships?page=1
now supports also killed units (downed to 0 hitpoints), for the "turning" part only, it would just be a matter of allowing changing ownership too.
However, the challenge would be all the system for deciding what is being hit, especially considering that it is probably better it being not too hardcoded.
Maybe the biggest improvement would be the ability to impede units hitting some specific other ones (in this case air units), that should likely come out of atomizing the submarines abilities (that already make submarines unable to hit air).@redrum You are probably better off just reading the rulebook.
-
Yeah, that's quite a different rule than anything else. @Cernel probably has the right idea around expanding the damagedChangesInto to at least spawn them. The most interesting rule is probably the 3 sided battle and hitting both opponents. That's pretty far from anything we have right now and would take some thought and possibly significant changes.

@redrum Is there anything in there about zombies being able to hide from an opponent... cause if there is... you got all of my attention.

@Hepps Sniffs around for spies ideas ...
