Internal Dice Sender Cleanup
-
The internal dice roller seems like an unnecessary option:
Notably a person can fire up a single player game just as easily. The extra option I think can be removed to help simplify the UI and remove some code, but curious if there is something else to this feature.
-
@LaFayette I've never used that option and not sure when anyone would.
-
@LaFayette Was this feature removed in version 2.0?
-
I second the question. Can't we no longer PBF without MARTI using the internal dice roller?
(Sorry I must have missed this topic 3 years ago.)I don't use it myself either, but I am aware of PBF games with the internal dice roller used when players trust each other, don't want dice mails, etc.
-
@Panther Ya i can't say i have ever used it either but if marti is removed or fails that would mean no pbem/pbf right?
-
Indeed the internal roller has been a backup for these cases in the past.
-
@LaFayette Any insights? Once players will switch to PBF using 2.1 instead of 1.9 it is likely that this feature will be missed...
-
In my opinion, TripleA should try to maintain usefulness also in case nothing but the program itself would exist (like allowing PBEM even in such a case).
-
What exactly is meant by the 'internal dice roller?'
-
@LaFayette The dice logic that is (still) used by the engine in other play modes (for example "Local Game").
In PBF/PBEM you have always been able to avoid (external) MARTI in the past by using those internal dice.
That was achieved by selecting "Internal Dice Roller" instead of an external Dice Server.
