French translation

I did a search in this forum and found several posts where people asked if there was a French version of the game, a French version of the PDF or whatever, but they dated back to 2020 at the most.
I decided to translate the HTML version of the game rules since the PDF is over 10 years old and it says that the HTML version is a work in progress.
But here it is, done, and I feel that my translation should be placed on this page, but there's no way of contacting anyone via this page (https://triplea-game.org/user-guide/).
So I'm putting the link to what I've done here. I haven't touched the CSS sheets (although one of them could use some reorganization).
Instead, I added a CSS sheet (main-fr) to add a background image, change the background color and link to the image used for the footer background.
I also modified the "home-screen-sample.png" image because the details were far too dark.
I also modified the original header logo because I thought it was too big.
But hey, these modifications will only appear on my page since it's a home-made transformation - I can send them to you if need be.

It's been more than a week since I did this French translation, which took me several hours of work, and not a single administrator or moderator seems to have read my message, or they have, but they don't care. I'm actually wondering if there are any moderators on this forum or administrators who do anything other than just take donations. Are there?
Not being a programmer, I still wanted to try and get involved in this community and I find it really disappointing that they don't pay more attention to the involvement of its members.
I even tried to reach someone via Messenger by following the link to the TripleA Facebook group and didn't even get a reply. There doesn't seem to be any other way of contacting anyone.
Yes, I know, this translation wasn't THE need of the century, but I had read on this forum contributions that deplored the fact that the game wasn't in French - or in other languages (the replies said that the way it was programmed didn't make it possible, but people expressed a desire to have a French instruction manual).
I think that the people responsible for this game are missing a good opportunity to open up to other cultures (hey, there aren't only English-speaking people on this planet) and perhaps reach out to new members of all origins, as most self-respecting games know how to do by offering a multilingual platform - yes, I know, I said above that it wasn't possible to translate the game the way it had been programmed, but offering guides in all languages like BGG can do, for example, would be a good starting point).
But never mind, I've wasted my time unnecessarily. That'll teach me to get so involved in projects whose administrators lack seriousness.

While I understand your frustration your wording is totally inappropriate and offending.
You totally overestimate the manpower behind this project. Currently there is hardly anyone at any time online who can look into it (I might better say: no one). All you and I can do is to wait for someone who is capable not only of looking into it but to handle it website- or software-wise.
This project depends on people acting voluntarily in their spare-time. It's nice that you seem to have the time to do what you do. Unfortunately the people of the TripleA project (whoever they currently might be) seem to have neither manpower nor time to do what you expect.
The people currently active here have other and different capabilities, tasks or interests.( @redrum @roiEx @LaFayette )

@panther I can understand that people's hobbies and lives are not limited to getting involved in such projects. What bothers me, however, is the indifference.
It took less than 30 seconds to write a little note following my post or my Messenger to say that there's no one who can deal with this right now. It seems to me that this is basic in a community. If someone had just written that to me, I'd have said okay, hoping that one day they'd get back to me about it. But now, let's just say indifference kills.
If I can do a translation like this done in HTML, I could easily take care of putting what I've done on the TripleA website and take care of the HTML part of the site. I could also redo the PDF of the rules in English, which dates from 2012, according to the changes made in its HTML version. Beautify it, doing something similar to what I've done.
But hey, now that a moderator knows that I'm available to get involved in this project if need be, a big thank you for getting back to me, especially as you're no doubt the same Panther who has so often helped me clarify certain rules from the various rulebooks of the different versions of A&A - so I know you devote a lot of time to helping others.

Again - I understand your feelings. But I highly doubt that what you experienced is based on "indifference". I rather believe that there hasn't simply been anyone of your target group who even noticed your thread. Except me - with some delay.

@panther Maybe the translation of the word indifference isn't right (I speak a fair bit of English, understand it pretty well when it's written, but I certainly don't grasp all its subtleties). What I meant was that it's less unpleasant to be told no than to be ignored.

Not sure about the programming/language website stuff, @Cernel might help since I think he has the language skills, so could maybe rap out about it, sadly my French is pretty non-existent. But adding links to this site, who knows? Not sure who's running that stuff these days. Doesn't seem terribly complicated, but not everyone is around who set this stuff up.
To the post regarding IPC/CPI, initially TripleA was a port/clone of Axis and Allies with the same names and acronyms used for all that stuff. This version of tripleA died in like 2008 I think. DMCA'd out of existence. Then tripleA become what it is now, which is more like a generic map-game engine that uses rules based on Axis&Allies games as the basis, but which is essentially and now necessarily generic. Production Unit "PU" being the generic chosen for IPC. You can simulate A&A using tripleA which is the world war II category of games, but we're not allowed to have like the official manuals and such for those games, since those are copyrighted. For the purposes of translations I think the same would hold, where you can explain the same concept/rule but can't use the same wording. Same holds for the visuals. I'm pretty sure at least, which is why we can't just take photographs of the gameboards or game sculpts/markers. Otherwise you could probably make TripleA look identical, like as if you were playing on the real deal, but those images and designs are owned. Instead tripleA is more like the fan art version, but also took pains to sorta distance itself from the official brand and to become something different, so as not to be stepping on those toes. As a consequence, there are fewer players of tripleA and fewer devs probably than if it was just a straight up Axis and Allies game. A lot of competitive players would have moved over to play A&AO by beamdog, which is official, so most who are still around are peeps probably more interested in game design, mods, or the DIY element of it all I guess hehe. Just to say, probably fewer eyes these days ya know.
Not sure about FB pages or other things of that sort. This project is basically maintained by random enthusiasts, so it's not like a professional game studio with someone working the phones. A lot of the people responsible for bringing it to life initially haven't been around in years, so hard to know who set up a facebook page and such. To put it another way, I think you've maybe got a lack of administrators situation more than a lack of administrator seriousness situation hehe. Like whatever message you sent might still be floating out there in the void. I wouldn't take it too hard. I think Panther is right though, that there just aren't as many people on the development side as you might have imagined. Or for these forums, active moderators, or people who can do whatever administration type stuff might be required for what you have in mind. A lot of times could just be a player that's been around for a while in a moderating role, or a hobbyist who decided to add to the wiki/random social media type pages. TripleA might have discord, but I'd have no clue, like anyone can set stuff up right? hehe. It's all decentralized in that way. Not sure who you tried to contact, but probably it was more like a dead end rather than someone trying to ignore you.

Adding links to a PDF while keeping the visual is really very simple to do, you just need to have the access to access the server. And as I said a little above it seems to me, this is the kind of stuff I could take care of. I could even take the opportunity to modify the general look of the TripleA site - obviously I wouldn't do it directly, but in the form of a visual proposal that I could place on my own server and then propose it on the forum to members.
I have just modified the IPC/CPI taking into account the PUs (UP in French, for « Unités de production ») instead. When I did, I wondered if the choice to use the term PUs wasn't just a licensing issue. That's why I wrote a comment about it to make sure it would be seen.
The Facebook link, it was on the first page of the forum, bottom right. The last message is dated February 2.
Otherwise, I understand that there is a lack of administrator for the forum - Panther is one for example - and as you say, several players use another platform to play the real version (I didn't know that of Beamdog , but I saw that there was one for iPad). What I understand less is that there doesn't seem to be "a big person in charge" for this forum or for the site. It's still weird that there is no contact on the site, but that we can't know either if there is still someone in charge of all that. Maybe the owner of the site paid for a few years, but leave it like that, without taking care of it or even coming to see what happens there from time to time. It seems impossible to contact anyone.
There might be Github, but I don't know anything about this platform. But hey, I'll wait. Maybe one day a manager or the owner will contact me...Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Yeah no worries, and I feel ya. It's probably kinda frustrating if you were just looking for somebody who could make a shot call there and tell you what needs doing for the thing you had in mind. Posting here will be more probably be more expedient, where it's more likely to be seen. There's never really been any sort of leadership hierarchy or like one person in charge, though at various points someone will step into the role as unofficial project head for a period just to keep the wheels turning and provide some level of organization or project managment. Usually somebody who understands the code under the hood, which has never been my gift lol, to me that stuff is a big mystery. But it's also sort of a thankless job probably, with a fair bit of busy work entailed, so I think what goes down typically is that someone will charge ahead with stuff pretty hard for a time when they have a lot of enthusiasm, but then maybe get a little burnt and step away for a time, somebody else steps up, rinse repeat. That sort of cycle. I'd imagine there's no main email contact or whatever, probably just cause nobody really wanted to be on the hook for that. You know, like somebody raises their hand says 'yup it's me, I'm in charge here, send me all the emails' then they gotta do more of that work too and be on the spot for all those things. Probably easier to just be like "yeah nobody's really in charge" more like the wild west hehe.
I think the person you want is perhaps @LaFayette or maybe @prastle to figure out what sort access/privileges might be required to add stuff/links to the main site? Again, fairly decentralized here though. Like the person who passes the plate around to keep the servers running at any given time, or who figures out how to manage GIT or repositories and all that, might not be the same dude ya know. Or like you say, that someone could pay the bills up for that or set something up, and then sorta step back for a few, cause it kinda runs itself in that way. Anyhow, I'd just assemble the materials and post in a thread like you've done. Cause then when you figure out who it is, you can just be like "here, I made all this translation stuff, can you add it for our players who speak French?" And then maybe someone gets that dialed for you. Just don't know how timely it'll be. Summers sometimes are a little slow I think, like even compared to other times of year. Least for me, tripleA is kinda seasonal in that way. Hope you can get it figured. All the best, and welcome aboard hehe. Catch ya next round

@black_elk Yes, indeed, It looks to me like a guy who took care of paying for space on a server, another who made TripleA's website and another who busy setting up the forum for a community that must have been very active at one time.
But there, I have the impression, as I said, that the space on the server has been renewed, for 5 years for example, with the donations received at the time, but that the person who paid does not even come to this forum anymore, that the person who took care of the website does not take care of it anymore, and that the person who created this forum and who was supposed to be in charge at the beginning does not take care of it either .Otherwise, once all that is in place, it's easy to leave it like that, without doing anything and it doesn't require any more work. And who knows, maybe the big guy responsible for all of this is dead and hasn't made arrangements for someone to take over. All assumptions are good.
Otherwise, the last time @LaFayette was here was 20 days ago and for @PRASTLE it was 5 months. Here below for the other moderators (apart from @Panther) that I found based on the first 24 Top posters of the forum - and it would surprise me a lot if there were other moderators than these further down the list. As we can see we see that this site is declining and that's why I really feel that one day like this, without warning, this site will be offline because the person who pays for the domain name will not have renewed it, or that the space on the server will not have been paid for. Given the few people who frequent the forum (the fact that it's summer doesn't change that much in my opinion), I would be surprised if this site is profitable - unlike its beginnings. Therefore, it would be surprising if a manager - who doesn't seem to visit this forum anymore - decides to pay out of pocket for the loss of earnings to keep this site online.
In short, I believe that what the translation I did, well, I did it for nothing...
