TWW 2.7.7.2 - lalapalooza & redrum (Allies) vs wirkey (Axis)
-
@redrum i'm out for today and only got my mobile phone. Can you tell me where to and what to scramble, including combat values?
-
@wirkey Yeah, I can post details here in a bit. I think the only one that needs a scramble/OOL decision is Berlin! As the rest are obvious.
-
@wirkey Here is the Berlin situation:
Attackers (UK): 1 paratrooper, 1 air transport, 6 fighters (7 HP, 36 Power)
Defenders (Germany): 1 paratrooper, 1 air transport (1 HP, 4 Power)
Scramblers from Northern Germany: 2 naval fighters, 2 advanced fighters (4 HP, 24 Power)Odds without scramblers: Attacker wins 100%, TUV ~10
Odds with scramblers: Attacker wins 98%, TUV ~25 -
@redrum guess, that's it now. I was under the impression that loaded airtransport move alone and would therefor be shot down by the surrounding AAs. GG
-
@wirkey I'm actually not 100% sure how fly over AA is supposed to work in TWW. From an engine perspective, it appears that each "group" of air units that fly over get shot at by all AA guns. So in this case with 3 AA @ 4, if you fly 1 plane at a time then they'd all die. If you fly 100 at once then 1 random one from the 100 dies. IMO, I think really the AA guns should only shoot once so in this case after all moves are made, the AA shoots one random plane down from all that have flown over the territory. Which since I only moved 1 group over is what happened anyway in this case.
I haven't ever seen anything where different types of air units (air transport vs fighter, etc) would fly and get fired on separately.
@Hepps Any thoughts on this?
-
@redrum In this the AA get 1 shot... regardless of how many units fly over.
AA Guns are confined to 1 shot at all times. There are no multiple shots anywhere on this map.
-
@Hepps Ok, that's what I thought as well. Really the engine needs to wait til all planes have flown over then roll but in this scenario the result would be the same since only 1 group of air units flew over.
@wirkey If you want, I can take the attack on Berlin back though I'd probably be able to take either Eastern Germany or Western Germany anyways. Let me know if you want me to adjust and continue or if you'd rather call it GG at this point.
-
@redrum You are right about what it should be. Never doubted that. I just remember that you couldn't load airtransports with paras and move them together with other planes. And that would make a huge difference here

-
@wirkey Why can't you move loaded Air Transports with other air units?
-
@hepps I can now. I just had it somewhere in my brain that I couldn't.
Maybe I confused it with the issue that you can't move a loaded airtransport to a rendezvous point and continue from there with other planes -
@wirkey You are correct.
-
@hepps you mean about the rendezvous?
-
@wirkey Yes
If they originate from the same terr. it is possible. Because of the transport though... you have to do your Air Trans moves completely in one move. So you cannot rendevous mid move.
-
@hepps so that is probably where I screwed it. Airtransport code wasn't changed in ages, i guess
-
@wirkey Hasn't been touched since Christ was a carpenter.
-
@hepps so it's official: i suck
