Bidding on Eu 1940 global going crazy, time to stop playing with limited victory?
-
Hey Yall
Used to be about 8-13 bids for allies back in the day, now it's nearing 15-20.
What do you think about this?
Is it balanced or is it that people dont enjoy playing allies? Also what do you think would be a good bid if Axis cant win with limited victory?
0?

@Ondis Yeah, generally global is really unbalanced in favor of the Axis and requires a large Allied bid. You might want to check out the balanced mod version if you want a more balanced game with lower bid. You can see lots of examples of competitive league games bids for both regular and balanced mod here: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/category/29/league

@Ondis Find detailled information about the Balance Mod here:

Oh yeah I know about those but still worth while the discussion on how this developed.
As someone else said somewhere else, high bids make the game more interesting.

@Ondis I think its mostly just more people have learned to play Axis well and go hard for victory conditions. I think the map was always very unbalanced but many players just weren't that experienced yet to be able to fully take advantage of that.
You can argue both sides of whether bids are go or bad for maps. Some argue it gives me variation. I think the reality is that most expert players end up making about the same bids and its easier on less experienced players when the map is more balanced without bids.

Yup, so what about removing the victory conditions?
How much would that be worth in allied bids? Seeing a huge Japan fight a land war in Europe for example.
