Help with AE game playing as USA, China an AI?!?!

Hello, I am a noob, but am currently playing a PBEM game, and have some questions. The game is supposed to be 'AA50' and I assume that this and Anniversary Edition are one and the same thing? If not, then there is my problem right there.
The TripleA map name is "World War II v3 1941" and it is version 1.7 of that map.
In the actual PBEM game, as the american player I manually control the Chinese forces, but in every attempt to reproduce this in a solo vs AI game, the AI runs the Chinese, even though the USA is set to human. Is there something I can do to fix this so I get to manually control the Chinese forces?
Any help would be appreciated.

@CrazyIvan nidea what you are doing wrong other than setting china as ai not a player. Usa normally runs china with the reg rules = 1 fighter etc etc

That's what I get for not putting on my reading glasses and leaning forward close enough too the screen to be able to read the menus! Thank you @prastle you have solved my self-inflicted misery/mystery, lol.

@CrazyIvan Theorically you are right, and it may be argued this is a bug, as, by correct rule, the American player should have the control of the Chinese power, so you should not be required to select Chinese too (TripleA allows Americans and Chinese to be played by different players, but this is not permissible under the intended ruleset).
