AI Interesting Moves and Points of Improvement on Revised
-
@Captain-Crunch Update your java. I don't believe TripleA bundles java anymore in the download. You need to update it yourself. @Panther any ideas?
-
@prastle yaa that was my first idea I said right away ... I just have this feeling if I update my Java it will screw my comp lol!
Seriously, its between screwing up my computer doing a Java update and playing the latest Triplea AI!
If I was super nerd I'd risk it and update my Java but I just don't wanna cuz I'd be so "agita" if my comp got messed up right now lol
-
@Captain-Crunch Well I update my java every few months but im Win 10 I don't recall having a problem with XP but that was a few comps ago
-
@prastle hehe ya I'll think about updating my Java but anyways it was a very long time since the AI was tweeked that effected the WWIICLassic map and the day finally came and ya it could just be a Java update I need but I'll definitely tell yous when I'm gonna battle the latest AI again!

The TripleA-prereleases come bundled with Java. This Java is installed within the TripleA installation folder and does not interfere in any way with the system. So it would be totally safe to install. The problem here is that TripleA prereleases use Java 11 - which is incompatible with Windows XP.
The current stable works with Java 8 - which has been compatible (but not guaranteed) with XP.
-
@Panther ok thanks for clarifying! Not a big deal. Will lets yous know when I'm battling the AI again

I noticed testing latest triplea that AI is moving its aa guns around quite a lot, leading to ridiculous board states like:
Where Russia's aa's are far away from its capital, germany has 6 aa's on the russian front and italy also brought some along.
-
@Alexei-Svitkine I think that is fairly normal for global 40 as AA guns are only used in battles not for defending against SBR.
-
@Alexei-Svitkine The characteristics for AAA have changed since Europe/Pacific/Global 1940 2nd Editon as well as for v5 (1942 2nd. edition). Defending against SBR is done by the "self-defense antiaircraft ability" of Industrial Complexes, Naval Bases and Air Bases.
-
Noticed another AI problem on a recent prerelease build while trying to test something else.
This was on Global 1942 2nd edition. In this game, the ANZAC declared war on the True Neutrals incorrectly. That turn, it landed units in Brazil, but Brazil was Pro-Allies so declaring war on True Neutrals was not necessary. It's also a horrible move because that allowed Germany to gain 8 infantry in Turkey for free the next turn which is catastrophic for the Allies.
See attached saved game. This was Round 2, ANZAC turn.
-
@Alexei-Svitkine I'll take a look but the reason is probably because there is some randomness is political actions for the AI and it probably hit a very small chance to declare war on the neutrals. One thing you can test is reloading the start of ANZAC turn to let the AI play it again to see if they declare war.
-
@Alexei-Svitkine I'm not a Global player, but isn't this an issue with the map? Are there actually any conditions in a well played game in which anyone wants to declare war on true neutrals, ever, I wonder? If not, I would say it is a bad thing to give an option you should never take, but I'm not sure, since I don't like Global and never play it.
-
@Cernel There are rare occasions when it makes sense to declare war on true neutrals. Mostly late in the game in order to move through a specific area. But its probably done in less than 5% of games if I had to guess.
