What URL do I need to whitelist in order for the Triplea engine to look for new versions? I'm running on a mac.

Depends on your version really
in newer versions https://raw.githubusercontent.com/triplea-game/triplea/master/servers.yml is used, in older versions (where I'm not even sure if the feature works anymore) we use https://raw.githubusercontent.com/triplea-game/triplea/master/latest_version.properties
