Setting Up A Game

I have found someone I have a game save with from 2016 so think it was saved on a TripleA 1.8 engine. Now I know it wouldn't work on the current engine so wondered is it possible to edit a game as in if I open my 1.8 game save on my PC and open 2.0 and load up the same map (Big World 1942 v3) could I edit the game to set it up to copy the scenario in the saved version so in effect I've copied it to the new engine and can save and then finish off from there?
Would that be a work around?

@bluelionman Yes that should work, as long as the intended rules set is the same or close enough. Of course, it will be a bit of work for you to do so.

I doubt it I'm losing bad - also can you edit rounds can I somehow just tell it to go to round 17 to start or such?
