Revisiting an old project
-
@Frostion
Funny, I actually feel asleep this afternoon setting PU values -
@Hepps said in Revisiting an old project:
@Cernel If you like Cernel, you can just do all the units. I'll find something else to be distracted with.
It's no problem for me to stop talking in this thread, if you find me too assertive or anyway annoying; you just have to ask.
Good luck with this project. I'll then wait for the final result and consider if to use it for 270BC Variants or not (I'm quite sure I will, maybe with a very few changes). -
As an added bonus....

-
-
@prastle Well a formal battleship seemed even more out of place than a long boat.
-
Started on the nations boats. They will all have accent colours and flags on the mast that match the national colour as well as the national symbol on the main sail.

-
Got all of the boats done for all nations. Changed the design for the Trireme to an entirely new image.

-
@Hepps Nice!
-
I also added the national colour to the sails of the Trireme of each nation to distinguish the 2 boats from one another as well as the boats of each nation.

Numibia done (except the City).

-
Impressive work! I will surely play some 270 BC when this upgrading is done

I like the boats. But I don't fancy the pink sails. How about not painting the sails, instead just give them the logos, the coloured flags and coloured hull stripes? I don't think the units will be that hard to distinguish. -
@Frostion i can say i always found it difficult in past to tell diff between the boats. (color blind) ill take the pink

but ya flags work as well -
And the mighty Carthage is now complete. (Other than the city)

-
Here is the same shot but with a bunch of ships from some other nations

-
@Hepps I really Like the flags being on their flagships!
-
@prastle You mean the emblem? On the Sail?
-
@Hepps Yes looks great and identifies it well.
-
If ships have to bear coloured sails, would it not look better if the smaller boat also had the same colour of sail as the large ship? Especially if the purpose is to make them nation distinguishable.
Right now the ships with white sails seems to fit each other like pairs of ships, but when the ships for example belong to purple player, with both white sails and purple sails, they require the players to look more closely before determining who owns the small ships.
-
@Frostion the roundels seem to show that well and a ship with a symbol = capital ship
-
@Frostion Yah I'm still debating on whether to do both ships with the coloured sails or neither.... the emblem shall remain on the main sail to the Trireme... but the rest of the configuration is still under the review process.
-
Ok so I took a look at Rome Total War and it would be hugely beneficial to use all the map files from that to replace the existing one in 270BC. The two are identical other than RTW is roughly 30% larger... allowing for far more placements per territory and really improving some of the problematic areas such as Greece.
Here is a look at the difference...

Also started on the Parthian units... (since somebody mentioned the Horse Archer)...
