Downloaded maps path doesn't update correctly

I can update the maps folder in engine preferences and it pops up saying MAPS_FOLDER_OVERRIDE was updated. This works as expected and when I click download maps it shows the maps I already have in the installed tab.
There are 2 issues though: Clicking the select map button shows no maps to select from, and the custom path resets any time I close and restart the game.
The result is I either have to re-download any map I want to play to the default location (which is nearly full and not ideal) or I am unable to start new games for any map that I have already download. As an added confusion, I can still load saved games from before and they work just fine, I just can't start new games because it doesn't show any maps to choose from.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for how to fix this? I'm happy to change a path in the code itself if necessary, but I don't know where to look to fix a path that's only half-broken? -
Which TripleA version are you using - and what is your OS?
On your system: Which folder does the setting default to - and which folder are you trying to specify?

@panther I'm using 2.5.22294 on Windows 10.
It defaults to C:\users\myusername\triplea\downloadedMaps and I'd like to save it to D:\triplea\downloadedMaps since D:\triplea is where the saved games are and where I installed the game itself.
