Feature Awareness Announcement
-
This is to let people know about some features that have been added over the years that not everyone is aware.
Feature #1
Creating a Save at a point in history.While in a game, go to Game Menu -> Show History
In the history menu, right click on any point, though at the start of a turn is best; there will be an option for "Save Game at this Point (beta)".
It creates a savegame set at that specific point. I've used it some myself and it has generally worked fine, though it may occasionally have issues and is a beta feature. Whenever doing so I always save it under a temporary name rather than the regular name for my save, just in case it doesn't work right.General uses are if you accidentally clicked ahead and need to go back to earlier; or want to retry a game where you choose a different choice at a critical juncture.
Another use is that sometimes when playing online, if the game feels like it's frozen and might crash if you save; you can sometimes take a save using this feature that wouldn't work if you use the regular save command. I have no idea why that works or how the two ways of saving are different; but I have been able to save games that would otherwise have been unrecoverable.
Feature #2
Adding a provinces troops to battle calc.While you have the battle calculator window open, you can move the mouse out of the battle calc window and over a province, and press control-a or control-d. control-a adds all the units in that province to the attacker's side (if they're of the same side as currently set to); and control-d adds all the units to the defenders side (if they're allied, you can have several defending nations).
This is especially useful in large maps with many units as a way to see what the odds are if several provinces converge to attack or defend one location, as well as to just generally check large battles. It's also an easy way to add extra nations to the defender to see what things are like if you add in allied air or such. Especially useful in maps where each nation has different units.
Just remember that if you're adding units from more than one provinces away that they'll really all have the movement to get there.

@zlefin Thank you.
I remember that the first one has been available for years, at least I recall myself having used it quite a long time ago. Has there been any work on it recently?
The second one is new to me, too. Nice!
