      I wanted to set some of the nations in the Ancient Times scenario to DO NOTHING but whatever choices I make, the AI operates some of the nations even though the choice is clearly do nothing.

      Also, in what windows directory are the XML files located, so I can directly edit them?

        Hi @taichunger

        Welcome to the site. I'm not real familiar with the AI's @TheDog would know more than me.

        To get to the xml
        go to your triplea folder
        downloadedMaps
        the map you want
        open that folder until you get to games. There will be a whole bunch that show up when games does.
        open games
        Probably be two with one beig for Game Notes and the other the xml

        Pact of Steel 2 xml explains in detail a lot of how it all works.
        pact_of_steel_2.xml

            Welcome to the forums!

            In map> games > Ancient_Times.xml
            Find <playerList>

            change all the factions to something like this
            <player name="Graece" optional="true" canBeDisabled="true" defaultType="Human" isHidden="false"/>

            As a code editor I use Notepad++
            https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/
            Select the top one

            Enjoy!
