Deltium, I am very happy to return to triplea after 15 months off to find the Revised ToCs have progressed admirably in your hands!
Please sign me up for ToC12.
Thanks,
bayder
-
Bayder - welcome back; you have indeed been missed, and very happy that you can join the tournament.
Note to all players -- the quality of the competition just went up exponentially! Bayder has won multiple ToCs, and is undoubtedly one of the very best Revised players out there!
-
You can count me in, Deltium! Thx for organizing

Hi All - just an update that there is a poll at the top of this forum page asking for your input on LHTR or the standard Revised rules.
There appears to be a preference for standard Revised rules, which has been the approach in our previous ToCs. I am happy to use that rule set, if there is a strong preference, but please vote so that we can gather the appropriate data and preferences of the players.
Many thanks, Deltium

I would like to join as well. Mog

@Mogwai - you're in. Thanks for playing.

I dont really see a need for a revised rule set myself. I think they are pretty clear. As for kamikaze planes, I think it is well understood that as long as their is a greater than zero percent chance for AC to make it to landing spot for planes, then it is a legal move. This, of course plays out differently in LL vs dice as in dice an AC can solo attach a huge fleet and have a minuscule chance of winning. Not so in LL. Im happy with either rule set, don't really care too much either way.

@deltium Not part of this ToC (good luck), so I'll abstain from voting, but I suggest considering "LHTR" like a different game than Revised, as it is really something in between of v2 and v4 ("Revised" and "Spring 1942 First Edition"). So, I think it can rather be run as a different tournament, beside the regular "Revised", than as an N edition of Revised. It's hard to say when something is another game or a rules change, but I'd see "LHTR" like another game, almost like going from Revised to v4 (that has almost the same map as Revised).
I'm also guessing people that prefers LHTR over Revised might just prefer v4, instead (Spring 1942 First Edition), that I believe was the other game available at GTO, but just wondering. -
@Cernel - yes, I hear you. While I have a personal view that LHTR is the better rule set, as it has a deeper rule book and it is the standard across all other platforms of A&A websites (Daak / AAMC) and used at tournaments, it seems that our TripleA community has preference for the standard rule set.
I'm perfectly OK with this, just as long as everybody understand the rules at the inception. I'd like to give the poll a few more days to capture additional data, but at this stage, I suspect that I'll move it back to the standard rule set. Thanks for your opinion.
-
@cernel hi cer but can we chat? Since you only seem to become involved and offer opinions at argumentative points? Please email me or pm me. Thanks Pras

OK, it's official - we are going to go back to STANDARD rules, and NOT LHTR. We have enough votes for Standard giving it a meaningful statistical advantage. Hence, the players have spoken !
Again, I do gently encourage players to consider LHTR in lieu of the standard rules, but again, STANDARD rules shall be the default option in the absence of any agreement to the contrary.
Cheers, Delitum

I would like to join.
I could be blind, but I didn't see anything about national advantages in the rules. Are they used?
-
@Cradge - welcome to the ToC. In response to your question, we do NOT utilize national advantages.
-
@deltium Uhm... Maybe I've missed something lately, but National Advantages have never been coded into TripleA, neither in the engine nor in the map.
-
@Cernel - that's correct.
-
@deltium Thanks and thanks!
-
OK - we are up to 11 players -- so far, so good ! Please reach out to other experienced Revised players that you know, and encourage them to sign-up!
Many thanks, Deltium
