Crazy Europe: House of Habsburg

Isn't there another way around the lines? That does work but it looks a bit odd. TWW has true islands, right?With no other decorations or indicators.... yes it looks odd. But it can be made to look very sensible.... (Bear in mind both of these are very rudimentary renderings). Once all the re-design of the base tiles is done then more decorative efforts can be done.

-
@hepps In this case wouldn't it be easier/cleaner to just extent the vertical line below the island straight up?
-
@redrum Yup.... Just offering ideas as food for thought. This was just meant as a possible option.
-
@hepps We will have to rename this soon. "House of Heppsburg", hehe

-
Uhm, seems that most here, and not only here, prefer "Sea Zone" or "SZ" being before the name/number.
I personally think the right place for it to be is, traditionally, after the name/number, like in "101 Sea Zone" or "North Atlantic Sea Zone" or "11 SZ", but it is good to have the choice, and it shouldn't have to be "Sea Zone" at all. -
@cernel I think if using a numerical name, sea zone is better first, but second if non numerical.
-
@CrazyG I don't see the map available on bots list. Is this a separate database?
-
@general_zod It surely feels better if not numerical, especially in cases like "West Mediterranean Sea Zone", but what is the point to have it at start if it is numerical, and the land territories aren't?
If only the Sea Zones are numbered, starting with numbers will assure them being distinct from the land territories, and not in the middle of the land territories starting with "S".
Personally, the only case I might want to have "Sea Zone" at start is if both land and sea are just numbers, but I can't think of a single map. -
@general_zod it needs all maps update
if he finally has it it downloads gz -
@cernel Well, If I would have all sea zones starting with "Sea Zone", then I would have all land territories starting with "Land Territory" or "Land Zone".
So having "Sea Zone 101" and "Land Territory Constantinople". -
@crazyg A thing I noticed is Corsica should be "Venetian" or Genoa should be neutral.
I'm thinking, for this timeline, in a 1v1, both Venice and Genoa should be allied with the Habsburg.
Still, I suggest having them as different players:
Genoa may even be just part of the Habsburg, really. It was a war-traded territory between the French and the Spanish.
I would say that "Italy 08" would be worth a 4 PUs. -
@cernel Nah, who says you need to name them all that way, can mix and match as it reads best.
-
Missing connections....
Romania 11 <----> Romania 14
Sweden 5 <-----> Norway 9Villages shouldn't be able to move (but they can)
-
Keep these little changes coming, I'll update tonight.
I also will add a city to Venice's capital
@Cernel
I'm not adding Genoa as another player. I don't want a tiny separate army in that location. Venice is named Italian States to represent its more than just Venice. -
@crazyg BTW when I did Spain I added the Pyrenees Mountains in formally rather than as a decoration.
-
@hepps
The reason I didn't do that on the Spanish-French border originally is because I thought maybe I would want a map where the mountains weren't impassable, just represented by terrain (I have a rough draft of terrain for the map) -
Musket man miss from the Dens.
-
@crazyg Realistically, mountains are full of passes, and, even in such a detailed map as this one, most mountain borders would have one of more passes each. So, as long as realism is concerned, absolutely impassable mountains maybe belong to Lord of the Rings, but not really to an European scenario.
Mountains are a great opportunity for the defender to ambush an invading force, moving through a pass, though. That is a simple tactic, an expected one too; but it works damn well. -
So we played a 4 player multi today. I like it. But it needs some tweaks here and there.
Here's the game save. But I must warn you it was learning session for first couple rounds for all. And villages were moved all game by Hapsburg player.
I have some suggestions, which I will post later. Since I'm tired atm.

Oh player teams were as follows.
Hapsburg+Italy
Poland+Sweden
Russia+Ottomans
France+Denmark
Overall, I think the mechanics are cool, nice job.
-
I accidentally named the Danish muskets "musketeers" rather than musketmen.
@cernel
Yea buts its not realistic to move 15 knights through a mountain pass, and the Spanish-French border becomes a fast moving front if there aren't mountains there.Currently it plays out quite well in my opinion, its hard to get past the mountains but if you do you can often take a lot of land. I'm not implementing terrain at this time.
@General_Zod
Cool, I'll look at the save.
