The Map Maker Project
-
So I would like to start an initiative to help people who want to make maps.
To this end what i would like to do is make the resources available to any potential map maker far easier to interpret.
That being said, there are many aspects for this task that I am not exceptionally talented at and muddle through at the best of times. I would love to build a team of people who excel at specific disciplines.
I can manipulate graphics and have some talent at dissecting very complex things to make them more understandable.
what I need is...
-
Someone who understands conditions and triggers intimately.
-
Someone who can manipulate and XML with ease. (And doesn't loath doing it as I do)
-
Someone that understands GIT "Confused" Hub and can explain it clearly and concisely in plain English.
-
Some one that can proof edit things with a detailed eye and ensure it is "layman" friendly.
If you would like to help and will be able to commit some time to a work in progress, please reply here.
Thanks, Hepps

@hepps
Sounds like fun... I love to muddle in the xml, a I suspect are others. Graphics on the other hand give me nightmares!!Just saying...
Cheers...
-
@hepps Don't you need someone to help make the map making tools better as well?
-
@redrum Your assistance was tacitly implied... with the omission for a
request for someone who could make no ongoing changes to the engine. -
I'm in to assist with 1 and 2.
What are you looking to proof edit exactly?
-
@hepps Geez signing me up already! Don't I at least get the chance to volunteer?
-
@redrum I can certainly cover the layman friendly part … and discover if it is Heppsease or Redrumease = new languages.
-
@prastle I will write mine in an abbreviated Scotchwardian dialect... that way you'll be sure to comprehend it.
-
@hepps hehe
-
@redrum Well seems more fun if you have to beg for the opportunity by complaining that you didn't have the choice.
-
@hepps seems ya edited
-
I'm not too shabby with 1), 2) and 4). I haven't tried 3) yet but I think I can handle that too, with a little practice.
However I'm not sure on how much time I can offer in the near future.
What exactly are you proposing anyways?
So list me as maybe for now, if ya want.

Good initiativ! It is always a nobel cause to help make the super complex process of creating a TripleA map more understandable. I dont really excel at anything mentioned, and I haven't got as much free time as a would like to have. But I would like to contribute.
What about me working on guidance in regards to a new category, representing something that has been greatly underestimated and historically given very low priority (maybe even forgotten): The sound side of TripleA and its maps. I got the impression that many folks don't care about sounds and even play with speakers turned off, but some of us actually like sounds Good sound schemes can really make a difference.
If I was to work on a map makers sound guide, I would probably also combine it with a lot of inquiries and requests about expanding (more like completing) TripleAs sound support.

I am not proposing anything specific right at this very moment since I would like to use the combined knowledge of the existing map makers (Guild) to establish a game plan. I have idea's but I am open to discussing what would be best.
I initiated the idea in the https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/918/map-maker-resources/2 and would like to build on a plan from there.
I will expand on my thoughts in more detail over the weekend.
