Global Dominance

@redrum Functionality will be clear at the outset of a game. You may currently interpret the icon in a variety of ways... simply because you have no preconceptions about its meaning or intent. Once however you are given context within the game and see the same icon used uniformly across the entire map to convey a specific rule set... it is my feeling there will be no misunderstanding as to its meaning.
-
@redrum Here is what I mean.
Knowing what you already know. Now as you look around the map... scanning. These icons will become very obvious as being territories where only infantry types can enter.
I am making it doubly more obvious by having all the territories with said limitations also be filled with the distorted diagonal line. -
@hepps Can my Alpine Paradrop in ?
-
These specific territories are limited to 4 types of terrain....
-
Depression (Qattara being a unique one)
-
Extreme Mountainous conditions
-
Swamps or Marshland
-
Rugged Arctic
Then while these 4 types of territory will impose a movement limitation... they can also be subject to different terrains.... such as the Qattara Depression will be limited to inf. type units.... the territories also cause any units contained within to be subject to the modifiers for both desert and hills terrain types.
-
-
@prastle Everyone but you will be able to. I have included code to ensure that anyone that can be identified as Prastle.... gets no abilities with Alpine units.
-
@hepps Makes sense and I like the mechanic of limiting those types of territories to infantry types. I definitely think having a symbol on those territories to avoid having to remember the specific territories is a big plus.
-
Hehe, can para-drop mules in.
-
@general_zod Apparently I can't down hill sand ski with a parachute
-
@prastle I'd don't believe you can downhill ski and chew bubble gum.
-
@hepps Yes dear one day you will ski again but the true point is An alpine unit is "crème of the crop" but apparently they cant take clothes off?
to fight elsewhere? We had that discussion. Your da boss your map -
@prastle All a matter of perspective.... whether it be that you feel every alpine unit the world over is and was the omnipotent fighting force of every nations fighting force... and whether that meant they also were trained in the tactical skills of dealing with every environment.... and had the necessary tools at their disposal in every last situation.... to be the best of the best always.... then I guess you'd be correct.

I agree that a boot can symbolize "no land entrance" or "no step" for both foot and vehicles. Its a good choice for a symbol.
I also think that redrums more 2D boot would be an even better choice, as it is far more recognisable as a boot and is 2D like the plane.
You could actually also split this no entrance feature up in two, like a no foot and no vehicle territory feature. Then you could have mountains and palaces like Gibraltar free of vehicles? (then you would ofcours need a no wheels symbol )
-
@frostion There will only be one restriction. So there is no need for multiple icons.
-
@hepps Actually they were and what your saying is they cant take off their snow suits
-
@prastle Yup sewed right into them. Glad to see the graphic is all you can see.
-
@hepps grumpy scotish bastard
-
@prastle Persistent O.C.D. malcontent.
-
@hepps hehe

Another little view of a critical part for the defense of the South Pacific.
Can the Allies hold back the initial Japanese thrust? Can the United States muster its strength to reinforce the beleaguered Australian forces.... Will the Japanese pour more resources into fighting on the vast front in the South Pacific?
Only time will tell.

@hepps Looks interesting. Care to share how shipping lanes are gonna work?
