Why don't majority of Triplea world war maps (Espeically wwii) have aerial battles?
-
Enemy air powers are the only units that you can't destroy normally without enemy mistakes. So it is so easy to exploit this feature by just spamming infantries and destorying enemy forces with unbeatable fighters.
-
Air battles are a relatively new features, most of the maps in the game were designed before that feature was available.
-
@Schulz The only A&A boardgame that uses Air battles is the 1914 game.
The air power model used in A&A is not realistic. A more realistic take would have:
- A limited round air battle before the main battle.
- Air units enhancing ground units and debuffing the enemy rather than doing much direct damage
- Air units taking losses when used, to reflect operational attrition
- Different effects versus land & sea units
TripleA can do everything except the last.

@RogerCooper #4 can be resolved with the current engine as well.

Really great feature. In all maps everybody just send 2 cannon fodder (infantry) and one fighter for taking enemy territory. Yeah what a great stretegy.
So where is strategy?
Why I am unable to counter this boring but useful strategy?
Who would buy other units in this situations since fighters are the most useful cannons already? Also aaGuns do not solve the problem since they can shot down your planes when enemy capture them also they are unreliable.
How could this feature can be done?
-
@Schulz There are already games that change some of these behaviors.
-
Where can I find these codes?
-
@Schulz Well everything you need is already in the POS 2 XML. Otherwise, TWW deals with many of the short comings of the accepted AA Gun behaviors.
-
@Schulz The standard skirmishing tactic of sending in 2 infantry and a fighter is useful, but eventually you get enough strength to advance into a territory in force. In standard A&A air units are more expensive than ground units and too many air units can leave you too weak to counter a large ground stack. A problem with the TripleA AI is that sometimes it buys too many air units if it has large amount of money, leaving it unable to actually take areas.

@RogerCooper wow this Shulz guy asks a lot of questions
I only know from playing this game using the regular air battle rules for like 20 years at least and I don't see the need for improved air craft or air battles plus it still looks pretty cool so whatever this guy literally wants another dozen things changed. Why doesnt he just start making these mods amiright
