Global 40 2nd Edition, Revised and WAW ? as most popular ?
Iron War, 270 BC , NWO ?
What maps should be tested if an engine change made ?
-
@beelee
Which version of 270BC ?
270bc_wars as that would push the TripleA engine and is probably the best version?What about napoleonic_empires ?

@thedog sounds good. Total World War and maybe Over the Top ?
Was thinking a list could help the iSU kids and hopefully others, when they start there project
Edit
Oil and Snow probably another involved one -
@beelee
I dont play WW1 or WW2 games so I cannot really comment.For the ISU project I would add in The Shogun as it has a very big map in pixels and uses lots of RAM like 270bc_wars.
There are a lot of fantasy maps so we should have one of them, like Warcraft War Heroes or middle_earth ?
- Warcraft War Heroes is a very big map, good looking with lots of xml stuff
- middle_earth / Lord_of_the_Rings_War_of_the_Ring appears to be popular by the number of views/interest?
So the list could be?
270BC Wars
The Shogun
Napoleonic Empires
Over the Top
Total World WarA Fantasy map?

IMHO the impact of changes on core game rules (different rulesets) should be tested with the core games, that are the WWII v1-v6 Versions and Global1940 2nd Ed. games.
However to save some time one could exclude v4 and v6 from testing, as those are simplifications of v3/v5.
Of course I don't deny to test other great games such as those already mentioned in this topic.

@thedog yea looks good. I was thinking more the complexity of maps that pushes triplea to the limit as opposed to themes.
Lets ask @cernel for his opinion
Not a strong opinion, but I do believe 270BC Wars was by far the heaviest game of TripleA when it was released.
As far as I know, only WW1 and WW2 themed games are any popular.
World At War is certainly the most popular TripleA-original game. Amongst the basics, Global Second Edition and Revised (non-LHTR) are by far the most popular ones.
