I recently removed 2.5 while trying to track down a 2.6 bug and when I tried to reinstall I get this

      Screenshot from 2024-03-24 20-13-45.png

      Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS is OS

Says something is deprecated, but Idk if that's on my end or not.

Anyway, kinda odd, as it worked before I removed it.

Hmm ... maybe I should remove the 2.6 and try. They might be fighting for dominance lol

      Edit

Well, I removed 2.6 and tried to install 2.5 and it still didn't work.

I was able to reinstall 2.6 though, so now, I'm thinking it might not be on my end. 2.6 will install but 2.5 won't.

Can anyone who doesn't use 2.5 and has it, remove it and try and reinstall it ?

Or if you don't have it, see if you can install it.

I have tried multiple times for multiple days. I have uninstalled triplea completely and still can't install 2.5

        I can install the prerelease.

If new people have the same problem and can't install 2.5 stable, well, there won't be any new people.

@beelee Are you running any kind of desktop GUI ? (like Gnome, or KDE).
It's interesting there is a 'headless' mention in the stack trace.

Could you also give your java version, the output of this: java -version

Also, you can potentially try this:

              ./TripleA_2.5.22294_unix.sh -Djava.security.manager=allow

edit corrected parameter, was a bad copy/paste

this is what I have for java

                Screenshot from 2024-04-10 20-26-51.png

                Brave is the web browser.

On gnome I'll try your solution

                Edit
                It didn't work

                ./TripleA_2.5.22294_unix.sh -Djava.security.manager=allo-Djava.security.manager=allow
bash: ./TripleA_2.5.22294_unix.sh: No such file or directory

@beelee What's the command you are using to do the install?

This is what it looks like for me:

                  028b4948-c25f-4242-954e-ee5a8c4f1e1e-image.png

I read something (on stackoverflow) about this being an issue for Java-19, but not for Java-18.

Also, I just noticed that I badly copy/pasted the extra parameter to try. I updated it, note the correction (it's less magic seeming now 🙂 )

PS: check the news on 2.6

                    https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/2999/2-6-release-getting-close-need-volunteers-to-help-beta-test-2-6/112

Your problems installing 2.5 might have become moot =D

                      @lafayette

Yes I just saw it. Haven't had time to check it out.

Will new Maps work in lobby now ?

                      Nice progress 👍

oh that looks the problem. 2.6 I just click. Don't need the install. Was pretty sure I tried it with the install 2.5 line too.

                        I'll try again

well still no go with using the ./TripleA_*unix.sh

still get the not there thingy

./TripleA_*unix.sh: No such file or directory

                        I'll try your edited command

                        Edit
yea problem is 2.5 isn't there, so it can't really allow anything. Maybe it's that java number ? I'll give that a shot.

You're on ubuntu still ? Can you try it ?

                        Edit 2
Are you on java 18 is what I meant

yea latest pre takes me to lobby 👍

                          Downloads/TripleA_2.6+14705_unix.sh'
                          Starting Installer ...
                          Gtk-Message: 21:39:24.846: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

This error shows up and I always click over it. Idk if that means anything.

Did it before and worked. Guess it might that java number. Take me a while to figure out how to revert it.

Anyway, as you said, this takes you straight to 2.5 now so ... f it lol Would be nice to know why it didn't work but w/evs : )
