@board-3659 A unit is typically a 48 pixel square, though most mods use a 75% scaling factor. A 4 pixel river will seem small compared to a 36 pixel unit, if you expect to be barrier rather a decoration.
-
@rogercooper Yeah ... I might have to enlarge it like what House Divided does to the Missippii or make it into a river border that gives penalty's (similar to Middle Earth Battle of Arda

So this is my progress after 10 days of on and off drawing. I think it has potential though in terms of the size of the territories, I'm not sure if I should cut back a bit on them.
I think the planned Cities here are fine imo.
The overlay is just for me to visualize and trace a map better

@board-3659
The map appears to be 2300x1600px is this big enough for say 9 units per TT ?Hopefully you are using a vector program like Inkscape so you can easily rescale it.
-
@thedog I'm using Paint.net. I can't use Inkscape

IDK if this is big enough for 9 units, I know a unit can be up to 49 x 49 if I can remember ... the cities are fine but idk the normal territories
.... I think the big issue is that I probably need to scale the map a bit large since it's a US map.I might try again using better scaling (thankfully I didn't lose too much progress)
-
@thedog What is the largest a map can be in Triple A?
-
@board-3659
I dont know how big the current mapping tools will go to Terra Firma is biggest map I know of ...
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/699/terra-firma-1939
29755x11442=340MP with 1500 locations1941 Global Command is 16816 x 8085px=136MP, with 800 locations by Black Elk
-
@thedog Hmm ... I think my map scale is probably fine, I just need to make the territories be larger
-
@TheDog Is there a way to change the title. I am radically switching this project's goal to something else
-
@board-3659
The title of this thread, edit your first post and at the top change the title. -
@thedog thanks a lot ... anyway this idea might return but I'm switching it to another one I got
-
@board-3659 Do you like this map?

-
@rogercooper While interesting ... it's not great for my game. I think making the map is better since I'll be using pretty much all of North America
-
So I'll make a list of various civilizations/factions that are to be included once the mapgame starts in AH.Com. It will be edited here in these regions.
Current Turn of Mapgame: Turn 1
Acadia
PvZ2 Dark Age Zombies- Unlike most depictions of Zombies, PvZ's depictions show them being roughly human intellect and are reanimated corpses, not infected beings. Probably smarter than LOTR Orcs tbh especially since they have decent magic so I think it's fine.Alaska
Stuqikiv- Homebrew fantasy nation in Alaska that is inhabited by Bogatyr. (See the Wiki page on the Folk-Lore)*Appalachia
Artic Islands
Canadian Prairies
Central America
Central Mexico
Cordillera
Deep South
Great Basin
Great Lakes
Minecraft Villagers- Idk why I think they could be interesting here. They could be a cool faction or a minor that can be aligned. We shall see.Gulf Coast
Greater Antilles
Hudson Bay
Lesser Antillies
Mid Atlantic
Midwest
Mongols- Yeah I am probably adding them here. Yes with Genghis Khan. I think it's balanced though with fantasy nations existing so while a large nomadic nation is likely, I don't think it will stretch from Shining Sea to Shining sea personallyNew England
Pacific Coast
Byzantium- Yeah I think this one is a must given the well-known story in AH.Com about Constantinople in 1453 being brought to America's Pacific Coast.Pacific Northwest
Quebec
Rocky Mountains
Upper South
US Southwest/Mexican North
West Canadian Shield
Yucatan
It looks long and tbf it is but that's mostly to sort the locations and I might later on shrink the list later ... who knows
-
@board-3659 I think you mean alternatehistory.com. From that site.

-
@rogercooper yes ... I am planning on doing a Mapgame (basically taking turns bringing in various groups of people from different worlds and writing about them)
This game is basically meant to be for once it's it has enough nations to have roughy alignment of factions

@board-3659 said in In a Land Far Far Away: Medieval Crossover Game in America Thread:
Yeah so basically am thinking of making a 1990s 2nd American Civil War map for something I did on AH.Com with some people. I am curious if there is any map with the US (hopefully with Alaska and Hawaii but their not too necessary IMO). I can use the Zombieland US Map but it's not the most ideal IMO since I need more spaces (something closer to Civil War: House Divided quantity though that one won't work either IMO)So yeah I'm planning on having a Battle of Arda style map but on North America. It's a Medieval Crossover ISOT thing I am going to eventually do on AH.Com so yeah
ISOT? Is it a post-apocalyptic scenario bringing humanity back to medieval technology levels or what else?
-
@cernel ISOT is an acronym that means Island in the Sea of Time. It's a book about the Island of Nantucket bring brought back to the Bronze Age. Think of it like a Western Isekai but focused on time travel instead of going to another world. Anyway, people use this acronym in Alternatehistory.com to describe stories with the same sort of premise
