@victoryfirst Hi VF. Thanks for that. I agree with you on a lot of what you said. I didn’t check the battle odds but I did throw everything that could reach at it including the Strat Bombers and lost badly. I also do believe you would have won the SZ 91 battle. In any case, my big mistakes were not recognizing the threat to Japan and reacting to it along with the rules issue with boats blocking sea zones from shore bombardment. I had played all my previous board games with that not being the case but that rule is a game changer. So I need to develop new strategies which align with that

While your BB strategy is not as effective as you first thought, it still has some merit. It essentially just takes an extra turn to implement.
Secure the SZ and next turn, bombard it to pieces

@beelee True that. But in G40 HRE, one turn delay is a game changer. I am not giving up BB's altogether. But building more destroyers/escorts makes sense and a naval delaying strategy with blockers is more effective than I thought

Yea, Ive found escorts to be good blockers. Victory always seems to have a ton of DDs lol

Besides the super heavies of course but you can only have two of those lol. -

yea I'm starting to appreciate them with JPN more. I like the potential D3 for Escort and cheaper cost but 3-4 DDs dropping dudes on the Allies can really ruin there day lol

@victoryfirst Hey VF! I found some time this weekend to analyze the previous game and am smarter about the Triple A mechanics now from the help you and Beelee provided. So I am game for another tussle now! But my son who goes by Mussolini Pizza Emperor would like to play also. So what we are proposing is that we play you again at your convenience with MPE playing Germany/Italy and myself playing Japan. Just let us know when if you want to finish up your game with Beelee first. MPE said to tell you that he wants revenge for how you destroyed his Daddy so thoroughly the first time
