I have NIDEA why the lobby bots all crashed today but the infrastructure worked perfectly and I was able to restart all bot servers with linode reboot. WELL DONE SIRS! Im not a tester or anything just a player but I rerad earlier you find people slow to migrate - just from my point of view when I migrated to 1.9 from 1.8 I found all my game saves were no good on the new platform so since then always been loathed to migrate to new engines. Not being a programmer or anything wondered why game saves on Maps that still exist can not be loaded on a new engine. Why are such not compatible?

@bluelionman Basically when the savegame format was originally created the author coupled the format to the code structure, simply because it's an easy thing to do it this way.
The problem with this approach is that as soon as we change certain files in the code, it makes the savegames incompatible with no good way to fix those problems.

So we're working towards an engine where breaking changes will happen rarely, but for savegames we're not quite there yet, @LaFayette put a lot of effort into rewriting lobby networking, so that should become a lot more stable for a while.

2.0 is now in soft-release. Please download the latest prerelease: https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases, and check out the new prod2.0 lobby! Now is the last best time to see if you can find any problems! If you had an account with 1.9, you can use the same account and password.

Soft-release means that 2.0 is released, but we are not yet advertising or requiring users to migrate. It's a short break-in period in case we find any major problems that would require users to go back to 1.9. If we do discover any major problems, we'll need to get those fixed to resume the soft-release period. Assuming no major problems, I'd expect soft-release to last perhaps roughly a week.

@LaFayette tried setting an up a PBF game today we do live battles in the lobby game failed to start and got stuck in that state preventing me from creating a new hosted game.

also, @colin seemed to have trouble with the tech roll and politics roll playing Germany in tww in round 1 pretty sure he was using windows verison, my mac client did not seem to have that issue however it does create this little java app that doesn't seem quite normal.

@LaFayette update was able to launch a new game just now after my ghost game went away my first test was no problem, the second loaded fine too but didn't die when i quit.

correction: seems like they just take a while to die.

@LaFayette yeah ok sorry just thought i would provide some context for the bug reports we actually had to fall back to 1.9 we had too many issues.

I want to give one big final thank you to all of the people that helped test the 2.0 beta.

Before putting out this call, I thought 2.0.x was in a pretty good place. I was quite wrong. While there is no guarantee there aren't still yet more problems to come, through this effort about two dozen problems were found and subsequently fixed.

FWIW, that effort is really appreciated, it made 2.0 far better - thank you.
