Can we get the client to save autosaves at various faction turns even when playing as a bot?
-
It doesnt now. Like combat non combat per faction

@Ondis the more saves the better, but i am not a tech guy so i dont know how hard it would be, as of now besides the main "autosave", there is also an "odd" and an "even" autosave. but as a player, i try to save on each of my "purchase phase", if every player did that 99% of games would be saved no matter what happens.

@Ondis As a host it does all that in the auto save folder. Sadly as a client using a bot it does not. This would be a good feature request @RoiEX @LaFayette ?
-
Sounds reasonable, but I have no clue if the current architecture would allow for it

Bots do turn out to keep an autosave. I've routinely hopped onto servers and downloaded the autosave to help players recover crashed games. In the short term exposing these autosaves to players would be a good thing for sure.
There is some work to do here though as there can be many autosaves and they are not always named well enough to know which one is which. In particular there is just one folder on the server for all auto-saves, meaning we have 7 different games auto-saving into the same folder.

@LaFayette cool food for thought no rush

ah yes, makes sense LaFayette. Though obviously the problem exists locally as well.
couldn't the program just save auto-saves in client mode as well as in host mode? Wouldn't that solve everything? Makes a bit more sense than having all those public save files with small variations in the faction name be available to everyone through the bot.
Im not sure how you've programmed this thing guys so bare with me but hopefully the point comes across.
And thank you for the support, it's not a huge deal but like, sometimes it just messes up games not having it.
