Revisiting an old project

@redrum and @Frostion Once I have this running it is easily revisited as far as brightness and contrast as I saved all of the different design elements in their own layer while doing the work.

Currently I am stuck as the game will go as far as the loading screen, but no further.

This is the worst time If you don’t have a java popup error, then my advice is to check, double-check and triple-check the folder names and file names of the “flags” dir. See if everything corresponds with the player list in map.properties and in the XML. A singe flag image with the wrong name seems to prevent the game from starting.

If it turns out to be another problem, and you fix it, I am sure we are some that would like to know what it was and what you did. Just so we can learn from this troubleshooting.

@CrazyG This was much easier when the engine simply flagged the error.

Now it seems like looking for an invisible needle in the dark in a room full needles.

Formatted how? Not quite sure I know what that means.

Things like spaces in the wrong place. I know that if it happens to polygons, place, or centers, it can result in the map not working without getting an error message

I would try to use the older place file, and see if the map can still load. If it doesn't, you found the guilty culprit

@CrazyG The placement file was entirely rebuilt with manual placements using the map maker program. I have rechecked that every territory has placements. So it can't be that.

@CrazyG Is there a better program than notepad that will break all of the lines up other than having a gigantic mess of data?

@Hepps Seems odd that the map maker program does not glitch out when you load the file.... yet as soon as you try to launch the game it has an aneurysm.

Couple of name placements off.

Other than that it's pretty much 100%. The border colouration can wait till a few people have put eye's on it and we have a consensus.

Oh... and I added the Gladious as the cursor icon.

@mahks I believe this is somewhat unreleased. @Hepps Made a visual overhaul of 270BC with a few minor balance changes as well but it hasn't ever been officially posted.

@mahks Hi. The game was completed... but due to some map changes between the 2 different versions of the game used to make the finished product... the game required some re-balancing. I was under the impression that a few of the avid players of the map were going to examine what is needed to restore balance... but alas it has seemingly fallen by the way-side. I never heard back. So this game is in limbo... or purgatory... I'm not sure which.

I am not currently, nor have ever been a player of this game... I took on the project to beautify it simply because it had a following on the Lobby and I liked the idea of a quality Ancient Era map for Triple A. If the experienced players who have a copy get back to me... I will be more than happy to make the necessary changes and up-load it to Git Hub. But I will not be party to releasing yet another broken map.
