We already have a thread about the UI, so I think we can also start a thread about wishes for a future version.

I appreciate the gusto. I don't think we can entertain too many changes to the core gameplay. The current proposal for 3.0 is to rewrite the core design and update the architecture behind the TripleA code base. This presumably requires a fundamental rework of all of the core data structures.
With that, it's very risky that 3.0 would never complete. We need to therefore be sure we do the utmost to make sure it lands. Once it does, it'll be much more straight forward to update game behavior and those updates could more readily be added in subsequent and perhaps more frequent update releases.
